About the Role
Mecwin Technologies is looking for a capable and hands-on Assistant Manager – Human Resources to manage the complete HR function for a workforce of more than 200 employees.
The candidate must have experience handling employees across all levels, from production operators and executives to managers, business heads and senior leadership. The role requires strong experience in recruitment, payroll, statutory compliance, employee relations, manufacturing workforce management and culture building.
The candidate should also be capable of managing a workforce with approximately 50% women employees, ensuring safety, dignity, equal opportunity and a professional workplace.
Key Responsibilities
Recruitment and Manpower Planning
- Handle end-to-end recruitment for production, engineering, quality, supply chain, sales, administration and senior management positions.
- Recruit employees ranging from production operators and executives to department heads and CEO-level positions.
- Coordinate manpower planning with department heads.
- Source candidates through job portals, consultants, referrals, colleges, ITIs and manpower agencies.
- Conduct preliminary interviews, salary negotiations, reference checks and joining formalities.
- Ensure vacancies are closed within the agreed timelines.
- Maintain a strong candidate database for critical and recurring positions.
Payroll and Attendance
- Manage monthly payroll inputs for more than 200 employees.
- Verify attendance, leave, overtime, incentives, arrears, deductions and loss of pay.
- Coordinate with finance for accurate and timely salary processing.
- Maintain biometric attendance and shift records.
- Resolve employee queries related to salary, leave and attendance.
- Prepare payroll and manpower-cost reports.
Statutory and Labour Compliance
- Ensure compliance with PF, ESI, Professional Tax, Labour Welfare Fund, gratuity, bonus and maternity benefits.
- Maintain statutory registers, employee records and required notices.
- Ensure compliance with applicable labour laws and factory-related requirements.
- Coordinate with labour consultants, auditors and government authorities.
- Monitor contractor compliance, including PF, ESI, wages and attendance records.
- Support statutory, customer and internal audits.
- Ensure timely filing of statutory returns and renewals.
Manufacturing Workforce Management
- Work closely with production, quality, maintenance, stores and supply chain teams.
- Manage manpower deployment across shifts and production lines.
- Monitor absenteeism, overtime, attrition, discipline and manpower productivity.
- Handle contract employees, trainees, apprentices and permanent employees.
- Address shop-floor grievances and employee concerns.
- Support production teams during urgent delivery requirements.
- Maintain a visible and approachable HR presence on the shop floor.
Women Workforce Management
- Support recruitment and retention of women employees across manufacturing and office functions.
- Ensure workplace safety, dignity and equal opportunity.
- Implement POSH requirements and support the Internal Committee.
- Conduct regular POSH and workplace-behaviour awareness sessions.
- Ensure compliance with maternity benefits and applicable shift regulations.
- Handle women employee concerns confidentially and sensitively.
- Promote women employees into supervisory and leadership roles.
- Maintain zero tolerance for harassment and discrimination.
Employee Relations and Discipline
- Handle employee grievances, counselling and workplace concerns.
- Maintain healthy relations between employees, supervisors and management.
- Manage disciplinary matters, absenteeism and misconduct.
- Prepare warning letters, show-cause notices and other disciplinary documents.
- Ensure fair documentation and due process.
- Conduct employee communication meetings and engagement activities.
Performance and Culture Building
- Support monthly, quarterly and annual performance reviews.
- Ensure employees have clear roles, responsibilities and measurable targets.
- Coordinate probation reviews, confirmations, promotions and increments.
- Identify low performers and support performance improvement plans.
- Build a culture of ownership, accountability, teamwork and discipline.
- Organise employee recognition, town halls and engagement activities.
- Improve communication between employees and management.
Training and Development
- Identify training requirements across production and corporate functions.
- Prepare and coordinate induction and training programmes.
- Conduct behavioural, safety, compliance and supervisor-development programmes.
- Maintain training records for audits.
- Support operator skill development, multi-skilling and leadership development.
HR Administration and MIS
- Maintain employee files, HR database and organisation structure.
- Manage onboarding, confirmation, transfers, promotions and exits.
- Coordinate full-and-final settlement and relieving documentation.
- Prepare weekly and monthly HR reports covering:
- Employee strength
- Recruitment status
- Attrition and absenteeism
- Payroll cost
- Overtime
- Statutory compliance
- Gender diversity
- Training and performance reviews
- Employee grievances
Qualification
- MBA or postgraduate qualification in Human Resources, Personnel Management or Industrial Relations.
- Additional qualification in labour law or statutory compliance will be preferred.
Experience Required
- 5 to 6 years of HR experience.
- Minimum 3 years of experience in a manufacturing organisation.
- Hands-on experience managing more than 200 employees.
- Experience handling production operators, executives, managers and senior leadership.
- Strong experience in recruitment, payroll, statutory compliance and employee relations.
- Experience managing a large women workforce will be preferred.
Required Skills
