Deputy Attorneys General, with critical support from criminal special investigators, victim service specialists, paraprofessionals, and administrative staff, prosecute criminal cases, enforce consumer laws, provide counsel to state agencies, ensure the public’s access to open government, protect the abused, and much more.

Statement

The Delaware Department of Justice (DOJ) is seeking a highly motivated and qualified attorney to serve as a Deputy Attorney. The selected candidate may be assigned to work in New Castle, Kent, or Sussex County.

Career Ladder

  • Pay Grade 12 DAG I – Salary Range $79,508 per month to $87,458 per month
  • Pay Grade 14 DAG II – Salary Range $92,259 per month to $96,760 per month
  • Pay Grade 16 DAG III – Salary Range $101,898 per month to $106,468 per month
  • Pay Grade 18 DAG IV – Salary Range $112,031 per month to $119,317 per month
  • Pay Grade 20 DAG V – Salary Range $125,885 per month to $135,154 per month

Essential Functions

The primary responsibility for the Deputy Attorney General in this Unit is to represent the Division of Child Support Services in achieving the agency objectives of establishing paternity, establishing and enforcing orders for support, the collection of support arrears, and providing general guidance and assistance to the Division of Child Support Services. This position has a high-volume caseload with daily litigation and appellate opportunities.

Job Requirements

A qualified candidate’s strengths will include the ability to work independently, evaluate cases, meet deadlines, anticipate legal issues, and research accurately and effectively. Candidates must have the ability to learn and apply relevant laws, rules of evidence, and court rules. Candidates must also have excellent verbal and written communication skills. Related experience in Family Court is preferred. The position will require some statewide travel to various meetings, trainings, and hearings.
