POSITION SUMMARY
The Assistant Vice President – Security is responsible for the strategic leadership, regulatory compliance, and operational management of all security functions of the mall. This role ensures the safety of customers, tenants, employees, and assets through effective security systems, risk mitigation, and crisis management, while ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements governing private security services.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
1. Security Operations & Management
- Oversee day-to-day security operations, including deployment of licensed security personnel from accredited agencies
- Ensure proper guard force management, including posting, roving, and access control
- Monitor service level agreements (SLAs) with third-party security agencies
2. Regulatory Compliance (Philippine Laws)
- Ensure full compliance with:
- Republic Act 5487 (Private Security Agency Law)
- PNP Supervisory Office for Security and Investigation Agencies (SOSIA) guidelines
- Local government safety ordinances
- Fire Code of the Philippines (RA 9514)
- Occupational Safety and Health Standards (RA 11058)
- Validate that all deployed guards are licensed, bonded, and properly trained
3. Risk Management & Incident Control
- Conduct periodic threat and vulnerability assessments
- Lead investigation of incidents such as theft, fraud, disturbances, and emergencies
- Implement and maintain a Crisis Management Plan and Business Continuity Plan
4. Security Systems & Technology
- Oversee mall-wide security infrastructure:
- CCTV surveillance systems
- Access control systems
- Intrusion detection and alarm systems
- Ensure systems are compliant, operational, and regularly upgraded
5. Coordination & External Liaison
- Coordinate with:
- Philippine National Police (PNP)
- Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP)
- Local Government Units (LGUs)
- Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Offices
- Maintain strong partnerships with tenants regarding safety and loss prevention
6. Emergency Preparedness & Safety
- Lead regular fire drills, earthquake drills, and evacuation exercises
- Ensure compliance with mall emergency procedures and safety standards
- Act as incident commander during emergencies
7. Audit & Reporting
- Conduct regular security audits and compliance checks
- Prepare and submit reports on:
- Incident statistics
- Security risks
- Regulatory compliance status
- Present findings and recommendations to senior management
8. Leadership & Workforce Development
- Lead, coach, and evaluate internal security team and agency personnel
- Ensure continuous training on:
- Customer service
- Emergency response
- Security protocols
- Promote a service-oriented and customer-friendly security culture
9. Customer & Tenant Safety
- Ensure visible but non-intrusive security presence
- Handle escalations involving customer safety concerns
- Support tenant loss prevention initiatives
QUALIFICATIONS
Educational Background
- Bachelor’s Degree in Criminology, Security Management, Business Administration, or related field
- Licensed Criminologist (PRC) is preferred
- Master’s Degree is an advantage
Experience
- Minimum 10–15 years of experience in security management
- At least 5 years in senior leadership role (Director/AVP level)
- Proven experience in shopping malls, retail complexes, or large commercial facilities in the Philippines
Certifications (Preferred)
- Certified Protection Professional (CPP)
- Basic Incident Command System (ICS) Training
- Safety Officer Certification (DOLE accredited – SO2/SO3)
Technical Competencies
- Knowledge of:
- RA 5487 and PNP-SOSIA regulations
- Mall security operations and crowd control
- Security systems (CCTV, access control, alarms)
- Crisis and disaster management
- Proficient in report writing and incident documentation
