The Associate General Counsel will provide legal guidance on multifamily real estate finance transactions, supporting loan production, underwriting, securitization, and asset management activities. This role plays a key part in enabling business operations through expert legal counsel and strategic advisory.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as legal counsel on multifamily loan transactions, including purchase and servicing
- Negotiate contracts, loan documents, and transaction agreements
- Conduct due diligence and analyze legal risks in structured transactions and securitization
- Support asset management, operational, and loan servicing legal matters
- Coordinate and manage outside counsel
- Collaborate with internal stakeholders across legal, business, and regulatory teams
- Provide legal support for product development, policy updates, and process improvements
- Assist with regulatory and government-related matters, including FHFA interactions
- Draft legal documents, correspondence, and advisory materials
- Train internal teams on legal and regulatory matters
Must-Have Skills
- JD degree and active bar membership
- 10+ years of real estate finance legal experience
- Strong experience in negotiating and closing complex transactions
- Deep understanding of commercial/multifamily real estate legal frameworks
- Excellent analytical, drafting, and communication skills
Required Skills
- Real estate finance transactions and documentation
