Beacon Global Strategies is seeking an accomplished Associate Vice President (AVP) to support client engagements within our Defense and Aerospace Practice. The AVP will support building and executing tailored strategies to support client engagement with U.S. Government (USG) national security agencies. This support entails understanding national security policy and acquisition developments in the Department of War and the broader USG, turning analysis and insight into engagement strategies, and supporting clients during execution of the strategies. The AVP may also lead projects which analyze defense-related markets to understand emerging opportunities.
Location: Washington, DC (4 out of 5 days onsite)
Core Responsiblities:
- Support relationship management for a portfolio of clients, with the support of Associates, VPs, and Managing Directors.
- Collect and analyze policy, acquisition, and reform trends that shape the national security business environment; develop engagement strategies for clients in the defense and aerospace sector; and team with clients to support execution of the strategy.
- Contribute to thought leadership through publications and at events related to defense policy and acquisition.
- Lead projects to analyze defense markets to understand buying trends at levels ranging from capabilities, programs, components, or materials. Summarize and brief conclusions to clients and other stakeholders.
- Help clients understand how the U.S. government, private industry, think tanks, and the media interact and inform policy decisions.
- Build and maintain a network of key relationships with the ability to make connections and create optimal partnerships; conduct outreach to relevant USG entities and stakeholders.
- Continuously develop subject matter expertise in national security and technology advancements.
- Manage, train and mentor team members to maintain quality of the work and foster teamwork.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree
- Strong network and reputation in the defense and national security technology space.
- Minimum of 7 years of experience in the national security market in a business development, policy, or government capacity, with Department of War experience strongly preferred.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience managing teams, robust projects, and leading client engagements.
- Ideal candidate will understand processes, priorities, and trends across the USG, including how adoption of commercial practices are re-shaping defense acquisitions, and analyze emerging defense business opportunities in the changing acquisition environment.
- Demonstrated ability to succeed in a matrixed environment using strong collaboration skills and professional judgement.
