we are looking for a building plans examiner to join our team. In this role, you will review and approve building construction plans, ensuring compliance with pertinent codes and ordinances. You will also assist the public with the permit process, code application, and code interpretation.
work schedule
the normal work schedule is monday through friday, 7 a.m. Or 7:30 a.m. – 5 p.m.; a flex schedule may be available. Candidates may be eligible for a hybrid work schedule with supervisor approval and must be able to report to the city of roseville worksites when required.
salary and benefits
- $34.95 – $54.09 hourly (dependent on experience)

building plans examiner i
- one year of increasingly responsible building plan examination, architectural design, drafting, and/or inspection experience.
- completion of thirty units from an accredited college or university with major coursework in engineering, architecture, or a related field. (note: possession of a valid i.c.c. Certificate as a building plans examiner can substitute for the thirty units.)
- possession of a valid i.c.c. Certificate as a building plans examiner is required within one year of appointment to the position.
building plans examiner ii
- two years of increasingly responsible building plan examination experience similar to that of a building plans examiner i with the city of roseville, which includes at least one year as an i.c.c. Certified building plans examiner.
- completion of thirty units from an accredited college or university with major coursework in engineering, architecture, or a related field. (note: one additional year of experience as an i.c.c. Certified building plans examiner can substitute for the thirty units.)
- possession of a valid i.c.c. Certificate as a building plans examiner by the date of appointment.
