Work Type: Remote (The resource will work remotely but must be available for on-site meetings when required . The frequency of these meetings could be up to 3-4 times per fiscal year).

The resource will work remotely but must be available for on-site meetings when required. On-site meetings may include, but are not limited to, strategic, analytical, and technical discussions, as well as meetings with team members, senior managers, directors, executive directors, and business clients. The frequency of these meetings could be up to 3-4 times per fiscal year. Actual on-site attendance may be negotiable, particularly if the resource lives outside Alberta.

Duties:
Design and develop complex dashboards, scorecards, and visual analytics using Power BI
Design, develop, and maintain data models and visualizations using Microsoft Power BI
Data Modeling & ETL Development
Create optimized, reusable data models using DAX and Power Query M for enterprise-wide reporting
Build interactive dashboards and reports tailored to business needs using Microsoft Power BI
Integrate Power BI with various Microsoft Azure data sources and on-premises databases
Work closely with Business users, data architects and data engineers to manage data pipelines, staging areas, and semantic models.
Work with business units to gather reporting requirements and KPIs.
Translate ambiguous business questions into concrete BI solutions.
Present insights and findings in clear, executive-friendly formats.
Provide end-user training and support to ensure adoption of BI tools
Maintain and publish datasets and dashboards in Power BI Service with scheduled refreshes and alerts
Optimize dashboards and reports for performance
Implement security and user access controls within Power BI
Implement incremental data refresh, row-level security (RLS), and performance tuning strategies in Power BI.
Conduct deep-dive analytics to uncover trends, anomalies, and business opportunities.
Ensure data accuracy, consistency, and security compliance across all reporting assets
QUALIFICATIONS:
Must Have
Education
Yes/No – Post-Secondary degree, diploma or certificate in Computer Science or related field of study
Work Experience
Direct hands-on experience translating business requirements into analytical solutions and communicate findings effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders to deliver end to end BI solutions
Direct hands-on experience designing, developing, and optimizing advanced Power BI solutions that transform regulated and complex datasets into actionable insights for policy, operations and executive reporting
Direct hands-on experience with a comprehensive set of visualization techniques and features that demonstrate both technical depth and storytelling skill using Power Bi.
Direct hands-on experience in analyzing large complex datasets to perform trend analysis, predictive analytics, and forecasting using Power BI and Azure analytics tools
Direct hands-on experience in SQL for data transformations querying, and analytical processing in large scale environments

Work Experience
Experience building data products in Cloud Environment
Experience developing complex measures, calculated columns, advanced time intelligence using DAX (Data Analysis Expressions) in Power Bi
Experience implementing Power BI Service features such as data refresh, workspaces and row-level security (RLS)
Experience in presenting and storytelling to effectively communicate data-driven insights to executives and business users within a government organization.
Experience working with Client datasets particularly Environmental Data (Water Licensing, Ambient Water monitoring), Transportation (Heavy permit loads) and Consumer licensing
