Founded in late 2019 by former Macquarie Bank colleagues, the firm commenced operations in early 2021 and currently has a team of ~36. The firm is headquartered in Hong Kong with additional presence in Sydney, Australia.

ActusRayPartners has a collaboration agreement with Sun Hung Kai & Co. Limited, a Hong Kong listed financial services company (86.HK) and we co-locate in their headquarters. The firm’s underlying clients include a government reserve fund, global financial institutions, pension (ERISA) funds, private banks, and family offices.

ActusRayPartners was nominated as 1 of 50 “Tomorrow’s Titans” by the hedge fund journal in 2021. Subsequently have won or been nominated for performance awards, for one or more strategies in 2022, 2023, 2024, and 2025.

Our investment process is called Discretionary Probabilistic Investing. Currently we apply this to creating alpha in equity markets across Asia and Europe. We may expand into the Americas in the future and are selectively offering long-only versions of our work. The investment process has a quantitative framework focusing on stock selection, which incorporates a highly differentiated style of discretion, applied across a very large number of positions.

Job Description:

With continued business growth, ActusRayPartners is seeking a Business Manager to join our Investment Services team with a focus on Due Diligence.

Responsibilities include:

  • Representing the firm professionally in internal and external correspondence, with stakeholders including existing and prospective clients, business partners, fund directors and service providers.
  • Managing Due Diligence (Investment “IDD” and Operations “ODD”) processes with prospective investors, existing clients, and counterparties, acting as the point person to coordinate responses and resources across the firm.
  • Over time, representing the firm in ODD meetings.
  • Assisting with client onboarding and relationship management within the broader Investment Services team, beginning at investor indication of interest and continuing throughout the client relationship.
  • Assisting in the development of new products by conducting guided background research and analysis.
  • Back up to our Legal and Product Manager in regard to understanding obligations to clients.
  • Supporting our COO in any projects related to our funds or firm.
  • Assisting in managing the firm’s virtual data room.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or above.
  • 3-5 years’ experience ideally in the asset management sector of the legal industry OR asset management industry in a product or directly related role.
  • Very strong English writing and comprehension skills. Must be able to produce documents in “final” (not draft) format.
  • A genuine interest in asset management. CFA is an advantage.
  • Good memory and organisational / data skills to allow for efficient answering of a multitude of questions from multiple clients.
  • Proficiency and extensive experience with Microsoft Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook, and Adobe PDF.
  • Native fluency in spoken and written English.

Suitable Candidates:

This role may suit the following types of people:

  • Someone already working in the marketing / client servicing area of a larger fund manager (or other alternative manager – listed equities preferred) but wants the opportunity to work in a faster paced / higher alpha targeting environment where they can have more impact.
  • A paralegal or junior lawyer already associated with funds management / related experience but has decided to pursue a more client-facing role. Strong at drafting standard documents but can identify the subtle yet important nuances in a situation, while working from a more routine base.
  • Marketing / RM trainee working for a private bank not wanting to be front line “sales”, wants to stay in asset management but happy to be more involved in the production of material (with the requisite writing skills) rather than pure front line “sales”.
  • Candidate working in compliance, consulting, or at manager level in fund administration who wants to work in a more client-facing role while leveraging their non-investment services experience and knowledge.
