Position Overview

The Career Services Office is undertaking several strategic enhancements and new initiatives to strengthen the student experience and provide comprehensive career support. This role will play a key part in driving these initiatives through research on best practices, implementation of benchmarked projects, development of digital resources, and collaboration with internal and external stakeholders. The position offers an excellent opportunity to work on diverse, high-impact projects while developing core professional competencies, including leadership, research, stakeholder engagement, communication, project coordination, and event management.

Key Responsibilities

Career Guidance and Counselling

  • Conduct individual career counselling sessions to assist students with career exploration, decision-making, and goal setting.
  • Provide guidance on resume and cover letter writing, LinkedIn profile optimisation, and email etiquette.
  • Prepare students for interviews and job searches by offering tailored advice and strategies.
  • Offer dedicated guidance for senior students to assist with their transition into the workforce or higher education.
  • Support and track graduating seniors and fresh graduates in their preparedness and job search.
  • Program Development and Implementation
  • Lead initiatives such as Digital Resources Development, Mock Interviews, and more to enhance career preparation.
  • Coordinate with internal and external stakeholders to ensure programs align with best practices and student needs.
  • Plan, market, and execute career workshops and networking events featuring alumni, faculty, and industry professionals.
  • Manage logistics, including outreach to guest speakers and creating marketing plans for event promotion.
  • Administer and support the Higher Education and Skills Knowledge (HESK) platform to enhance student career readiness.

Research and Resource Development

  • Incorporate global best practices, academic literature, and student feedback into the design of career initiatives.
  • Regularly monitor the impact of programs to refine strategies and identify future goals.
  • Develop, edit, and distribute accessible career resources in various formats, including guides, toolkits, and online content.

Strategic Project Leadership

  • Independently design and implement assigned projects with clearly defined goals and milestones.
  • Collaborate with campus partners to foster relationships that enhance the effectiveness of initiatives.
  • Serve as a thought partner in the CSO domain by contributing to strategy development and implementation.
  • Assist with administrative tasks and team functions as needed to support overall office operations.
  • Stay updated on labour market trends, industry requirements, and emerging career pathways to provide relevant guidance.

Qualifications

At least a Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Business Administration or a related field from a HEC-recognized university.

Experience

At least 03 years of relevant experience in research, career services or a related function.
