Our client is looking for a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) who will be a key member of the hospital Executive team. He/She will be accountable for providing leadership, financial oversight and direction to all the financial departments to ensure the overall fiscal responsibility and financial well-being of the hospital. The CFO will be responsible for directing and coordinating hospital activities concerned with financial administration, general accounting, patient accounting and financial and statistical reporting.
Responsibilities
- Develops and implements policies and procedures and ensures that goals and objectives are consistent with the hospital’s mission and reason for being.
- Works with the hospital Board of Directors, President and CEO, and Business Development Division Head to develop financial goals and objectives for the hospital.
- Provides proactive, sound guidance regarding management of assets and investments, and financial trends within the hospital.
- Works with department managers and patient care executives to implement financial plans and productivity benchmarks, and to monitor progress toward financial goals.
- Establishes a five -year strategic financial plan for the hospital as part of the hospital’s strategic planning process.
- Responsible for all financial accounting and reporting, procedures and internal controls of the division.
- Ensures that all balance sheet accounts are reconciled on a monthly basis and a system of internal controls are in place to facilitate a clean audit opinion with no audit adjustments or internal control deficiencies noted.
- Maintains effective revenue cycle processes to keep patient accounts receivable at an acceptable level and also increasing the hospital’s cash flow.
- Specific areas of responsibility include but not limited to: patient financial services; maximizing cash flow consistent with sound credit and collection policies while maintaining good rapport with the community; financial reporting with detailed analysis of financial statements and variances from budget; audits of financial statements and internal controls; examination of insurance policies to ascertain that hospital assets are properly insured against loss and that the hospital’s liability coverage meets hospital’s management contract requirements
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
- Working knowledge of healthcare Accounting practices and principles.
- Advanced working knowledge of finance, accounting, budgeting, and cost control principles.
- Knowledge of local government financial regulations.
- Advanced analytical skills to develop company strategic plans, business development plans and key success metrics. Ability to convert abstract strategies into operational objectives.
- Strong risk management knowledge, mitigation and contingency planning and practice.
- Ability to cultivate effective partnerships and work in collaboration with providers, other health care professionals, caregivers, patients and community members.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in related discipline required; MBA or MHA degree preferred.
- Preferably with related professional-level experience in healthcare environment.
- At least 15 years of management experience.
- With strong audit experience
