Position Overview

The Chief of Staff (CoS) plays a critical role on MSI’s management team, reporting directly to the Chief Delivery Officer (CDO).  The CoS collaborates with the entire leadership team – CDO, Chief Growth Officer, President, and CEO to ensure effective business operations within our consulting lines of business. This specifically requires HR Competencies (e.g., recruiting, hiring, onboarding, and clearance management), Finance Competencies (e.g., invoicing, firm-wide time entry, and project burn rate calculations) and strong capabilities to effectively collaborate and manage up.  

MSI is a rapidly growing Federal consulting firm that performs leading strategy and technology engagements across many Government agencies.  Our workplace culture is relaxed but we focus intensely on results, operating as a strict meritocracy.  Our HQ is located in Reston with staff located across the country. 

Key Responsibilities

  • Monitor workforce and project alignment including forecasted burn rates, staffing levels, profitability, and clearance management.
  • Support contract compliance and progress reporting. 
  • Manage the recruiting, hiring, and onboarding of consultants and technologists to MSI projects in conjunction with the CDO and President.
  • Facilitate timely monthly invoicing across all projects  in collaboration with the Director of Operations, ensuring 100% accuracy.  
  • Work with the CDO to rapidly onboard and complete clearance requirements for staff joining MSI engagements.
  • Collaborate with the Firm’s Managing Directors to manage client relationships, complete firm-wide actions, and enhance portfolio management.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in Federal or Private Sector consulting, or adjacent fields.
  • Experience managing consulting engagements or similar work.
  • Must be a self-starter and self-motivated.
