Athlete Assessments is seeking a commercially driven Client Advisor / Business Development Manager to join our Brisbane-based team full-time. This is an exciting opportunity for a driven sales professional who thrives on building meaningful connections, understands the people side of organisational performance, and is motivated by ambitious goals.

This role is externally titled Client Advisor to reflect Athlete Assessments’ consultative and relationship-led approach to client engagement. Functionally, the role performs the responsibilities of a Business Development Manager, with a focus on identifying, qualifying, developing, and converting commercial opportunities across government, public sector, education, and related Australian markets.

A key focus of the role is public sector engagement. This includes interpreting procurement documentation, understanding government and education-sector priorities, preparing tailored proposals, and translating client needs into commercially viable Athlete Assessments solutions.

Key responsibilities

  • Lead business development activity across government, public sector, education, and related markets.
  • Identify and pursue opportunities across state and federal government departments; local councils; government, non-government, and faith-based schools; TAFEs and universities; government-owned corporations; and related public sector organisations.
  • Monitor procurement portals and prepare proposals, quotes, tender responses, and pricing schedules.
  • Translate complex public sector briefs into structured leadership development, behavioural profiling, team development, and organisational capability solutions.
  • Lead discovery conversations with prospective clients to understand workforce capability issues, leadership needs, team performance barriers, behavioural dynamics, and desired outcomes.
  • Design proposed program structures involving DISC Profiling, DISC Workshops, leadership development, team development, executive workshops, coaching, accreditation, reporting, and implementation phases.
  • Prepare and negotiate pricing, scope, payment terms, delivery structures, proposal inclusions, program sequencing, and commercial terms within agreed business parameters.
  • Lead sales and marketing strategy across government, education, and public sector markets.
  • Lead LinkedIn content planning and development for Athlete Assessments, including writing and designing content briefs and videos.
  • Support website, SEO, and digital marketing initiatives by identifying required updates, new positioning opportunities, education-sector messaging, and content improvements.
  • Use Salesforce to manage and report on the entire sales process, from prospecting and lead tracking to customer onboarding and ongoing relationship management, to ensure all customer interactions, sales activities, and project timelines are tracked and kept up to date to promote cross-team collaboration, consistency, and transparency.
  • Report pipeline activity, opportunity status, revenue progress, proposal activity, and business development outcomes to the company director.
  • Represent Athlete Assessments at conferences, workshops, public sector forums, local government “meet the buyer” events, education-sector events, and professional networking opportunities.

About you

We are looking for someone who:

  • Has demonstrated experience in sales and business development, with a background in service-based sales or government policy highly regarded.
  • Understands government language, procurement requirements, public sector stakeholder structures, policy-driven objectives, and tender response requirements.
  • Has a proven track record of achieving and exceeding sales targets.
  • Is driven, a natural connector, and motivated by ambitious goals.
  • Has experience preparing client proposals, quotes, pricing information, sales reports, and other commercial materials.
  • Is able to identify market opportunities, assess opportunity suitability, qualify prospects, and prioritise business development activity based on commercial and strategic value.
  • Has strong written communication skills, including the ability to respond to formal procurement documents, tender criteria, policy-aligned requirements, and complex client briefs.
  • Has strong verbal communication and relationship-building skills, with the ability to engage credibly with senior business stakeholders, directors, procurement representatives, and public sector contacts.
  • Experience using Salesforce or a comparable CRM system to manage pipeline, client engagement, opportunity stages, reporting, and account activity.

Qualifications

  • A tertiary qualification in politics, public policy, business, commerce, marketing, communications, human resources, organisational development, or a related discipline is highly regarded.

  • Knowledge of government, public administration, policy analysis, public sector procurement, education-sector leadership, workforce capability, or organisational development is highly regarded.
