Client Partner – Comms Jobs in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia at Actually Partners

Title: Client Partner – Comms

Company: Actually Partners

Location: Sydney, New South Wales, Australia

Sydney based role

Know the room. Shape the story. Make it land.

Actually Partners is looking for a Client Partner with a comms specialty, who thrives in complexity; someone who can walk into a high-stakes situation, read what's really going on, and craft plans and communications that move things forward.

We're a strategy and creative partner for ambitious brands. In just two years, we've built a reputation for finding the truth others miss and turning it into work that drives real growth. Now we're expanding our offer, and we need someone who can lead the communications charge for clients navigating some of their most critical moments.

This is a Sydney-based role, sitting within our growing national team.

The Role

This isn't a "write the newsletter" job.

You'll be joining at a pivotal moment. The majority of this role (around 70%) will be dedicated to a single, landmark project with one of our biggest clients. It's the kind of engagement that doesn't come around often: complex, multi-stakeholder, and with the genuine potential to reshape a significant Sydney business. The remaining 30% will have you supporting a broader portfolio of clients across PR and strategic communications.

You'll own the communications strategy and execution, spending around three days a week embedded in client teams, in their offices, in the room, in the detail. You'll be trusted to navigate sensitive situations, manage competing voices, and bring clarity where there's noise.

You'll be supported by our senior team in Melbourne – who travel to Sydney regularly, so you won't be going it alone up there – and will be invited to Melbourne quarterly alongside the full team to connect, collaborate, and calibrate.

What you'll actually be doing:

  • Leading communications strategy for a landmark project with genuine city-shaping scale
  • Developing and executing comms plans across complex, multi-stakeholder environments – transactions, deals, government and community engagement
  • Advising senior clients on positioning, messaging and stakeholder strategy
  • Writing across a full range of formats – from exec briefings and board papers to media statements, community communications and internal comms
  • Supporting PR activity across a broader client portfolio
  • Collaborating with the broader Actually team to integrate comms into wider strategy and creative work

What You'll Bring

  • Experience in complex communications – corporate transactions, government affairs, major infrastructure or development projects, or other high-stakes multi-stakeholder environments. You've been here before, and you know how to navigate it.
  • PR chops – you understand the media landscape, know how to manage a story, and can move between strategic counsel and hands-on execution.
  • Senior client instincts – you're comfortable in the room with executives, build trust quickly, and can push back when the thinking isn't right.
  • Exceptional writing – clear, sharp, audience-aware. You can take something complicated and make it land.
  • Autonomy and judgment – you know how to prioritise, when to escalate, and how to keep things moving.
  • Genuine curiosity – you're interested in the businesses and projects you work with, not just the comms brief.

What You'll Get

  • The chance to work on one of Sydney's most significant projects – the kind of thing you'll still be talking about in ten years.
  • A genuinely senior seat at the table – trusted with meaningful, complex work from day one.
  • The chance to help shape how Actually builds and delivers its communications offering.
  • A small, smart team that cares about doing things properly.
  • The flexibility of being Sydney-based, with real connection to the Melbourne team.
  • Work that spans industries, audiences and challenges – no two months will look the same.
  • Monthly floating fun days!

One more thing

We work hard. We care deeply about the quality of what we make and how we show up for our clients. But we're also a team that doesn't take itself too seriously – expect plenty of jokes in the group chat, and when we do get together, we make it count. The quarterly Melbourne trips aren't just calibration sessions. They're a proper celebration of the team and the work.

If that sounds like your kind of place, we really want to hear from you.

Tell us about a communications challenge you're proud of how you handled. That's where we'll start.
