Job Summary
Reporting to the Head of Market Development, the Business Development Associate will drive growth in Ghana, developing project and land portfolio, building strategic partnerships, navigating regulatory and government approval processes, and closing commercial agreements. This work spans board rooms, government ministries, and remote forest sites. You will often be the first representative to explore new areas and meet potential project
stakeholders.
The ideal candidate is business-savvy, deeply self-motivated, and ambitious; someone who communicates persuasively in writing and in person, brings commercial acumen and basic financial modelling skills to deal assessment, and has the adaptability to be equally effective in executive settings, government offices, and field environments. This role demands confidence, initiative, and sound judgement with minimal supervision.

Key Responsibilities
* Identify, qualify and develop project origination and land acquisition opportunities across Ghana’s deciduous forest zone.
* Lead commercial negotiations with public and private counterparties.
* Produce basic financial models and investment cases to support deal assessment and internal decision-making.
* Support structuring and closing of strategic agreements and contracts.
* Develop and maintain a commercial pipeline, tracking opportunities from prospecting to completion,including housekeeping elements to ensure compliance.
* Conduct market, sector and policy analysis relevant to carbon markets, commercial forestry, and nature-based solutions in Ghana
* Contribute to reporting to institutional financiers and senior leadership Stakeholder Engagement & Representation
* Represent at conferences, industry events, government engagements, and commercial meetings
* Draft and prepare stakeholder-facing materials including presentations, briefing notes, and proposals
* Develop and expand commercial network across relevant sectors and institutions in Ghana
* Navigate government approval processes (forestry, land, carbon, environmental permitting) and build relationships with regulators and government stakeholders
* Draft policy notes, advocacy materials, and regulatory submissions
Requirements
* Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Humanities, Economics, Law, or a related field
* A background in Environmental Science, Forestry, Infrastructure or Natural Resource
* Management is an advantage, but not required
* 2–5 years of professional experience in business development, commercial roles, or stakeholder-facing positions
* Exposure to regulated markets or commodity sectors; exposure to the forestry or environmental services industry in Ghana is desirable but not a requirement
* Demonstrated experience navigating complex government processes, approval pathways, or policy environments
* Track record of building relationships across diverse stakeholder groups
