About The Program
The Partnerships for Improving Education (PIE) Program is a 5-year, Government of Australia (GoA) investment to support the Government of Papua New Guinea (GoPNG) improve the delivery of access to and quality of education for the children of PNG. The expected end-of-investment outcomes (EOIO) for the PIE investment are:
Targeted Outcome 1: More children (girls, boys, and children with disabilities) in the early grades enrol and stay in school in target locations using replicable and sustainable approaches
Targeted Outcome 2: Target locations are using sustainable and replicable approaches to support improvements in the quality of teaching and learning in the early grades
Enabling Outcome 3: Evidence of systemic change within the education sector that improves the delivery of early grades education.
About The Opportunity
Under the guidance of the PIE Communications Manager, the Communications Specialist will be responsible for planning, development and delivery of high-quality communications, public diplomacy and stakeholder engagement events for the PIE program.
This includes preparing clear, accurate and culturally appropriate communications products that promote PIE’s contribution to improved education outcomes, while ensuring alignment with Australian High Commission, DFAT and PIE branding, approval and safeguarding requirements.
Key Responsibilities
- Develop, draft and edit clear, accurate and culturally appropriate communications products for PIE, including media releases, social media content, newsletters, case studies, impact stories, briefing materials, reports, fact sheets and event materials.
- Maintain and curate the PIE image bank and multimedia asset library so that photos, videos, consent forms and related materials are appropriately stored, labelled and accessible.
- Monitor PIE-related media, digital communications and stakeholder updates, and prepare regular communications progress reports, media updates, statistics and other inputs for management.
Key deliverables
Position Specific Deliverables:
- Production of impact stories, case studies, media releases, briefing packs, fact sheets, publications, infographics and social media content).
- Maintain and curate the PIE multimedia asset library.
- Commission, brief and quality-assure photography and videography to ensure informed consent, safeguarding and metadata standards are met.
- Monitor PIE, education and wider sector digital communications channels and content for reach and audience.
- Lead internal quality assurance processes and manage approvals for all PIE communications.

About You

Key selection Criteria
- Relevant tertiary qualification in Communications, Business, Administration or a related field, or equivalent experience.
- Demonstrated experience as a communications coordinator in a similar field (i.e. working with government, education, church, civil society and/or private sector stakeholders, preferably in development programs).
- Demonstrated high-level communication, organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Demonstrated interpersonal and relationship management skills, with the ability to build effective partnerships and coordinate across diverse stakeholders
Desirable
- Capability with graphic design suites
