Te Whiwhinga mahi - The Opportunity – Planner – Consent Planning

AT’s Consent Planners undertake and manage the statutory consent process undertaken by Auckland Transport for our projects. We work closely with our Project Managers and our consultants to deliver the consents and other approvals needed.

We can work on small projects with a big impact like road widening for safety improvements and larger more complex programmes like the Supporting Growth Alliance and Eastern Busway Alliance and City Rail Link .

We work with our consultants, NZTA, Alliances and engineering firms to determine the project requirements and review and approve the consent documents before managing the post-lodgement phase with Auckland Council, Heritage New Zealand and other approvers and in some cases, we prepare the applications inhouse.

Key Tasks will include:

  • Team meetings to discuss health and wellbeing, workload and capacity.
  • Meeting with project team including AT Project Manager and external consultants or other government agencies such as NZTA
  • Attend Mana Whenua Kaitiaki Forum alongside AT Planning Lead and Project Manager
  • Attend meeting with affected landowners and relevant stakeholders
  • Assess design plans and technical reports to determine Unitary Plan consent requirements and prepare memo outlining recommended consenting strategy
  • Preparation of application for minor safety improvements and tree works
  • Assist in obtaining heritage approvals and wildlife permits from necessary parties
  • Assist Property teams in obtaining any necessary asset owner approvals such as Land Owner Approvals, Tree Asset Owner Approvals and Contaminated Landfill Asset Owner Approvals
  • Prepare delegated report recommending a decision on an application for works within a designation

Ko koe tēnei | About you

  • Planning degree or similar discipline
  • Working towards full membership of NZ Planning Institute
  • Minimum 3-5 years’ planning experience in consenting ideally in infrastructure and public works
  • Sound understanding and knowledge of relevant planning legislation
  • Experience in working within political environment and engaging in public consultation processes both formal and informal
