Our client is looking for a seasoned Network Contracting leader to provide strategic expertise in provider contracting and network development. This role plays a critical part in strengthening provider partnerships, ensuring network adequacy, and driving financial and operational performance across Medicaid and Medicare lines of business.

Position Overview

This role focuses on negotiating and managing complex agreements with key provider organizations such as hospitals, independent physician associations, and behavioral health groups. The position supports value-based care initiatives, alternative reimbursement models, and long-term provider relationship management aligned with organizational goals.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead negotiations with complex and high-impact provider organizations to secure competitive, high‑quality, and sustainable network partnerships
  • Develop, execute, and optimize value-based and alternative payment arrangements
  • Analyze financial implications of contract terms and prepare justifications for executive review when exceptions are required
  • Support network adequacy initiatives, escalation processes, delegation oversight, and joint operating committees
  • Manage provider contracts within contract lifecycle management systems
  • Partner with internal leadership to negotiate strategic hospital and physician group agreements aligned to performance targets
  • Drive cost‑containment initiatives that positively influence medical cost performance
  • Advise contracting teams on negotiation strategies and provider engagement best practices
  • Maintain strong relationships with large and highly visible provider partners
  • Assess contract language for regulatory and corporate compliance and collaborate with legal teams as needed
  • Educate internal stakeholders on contractual terms, reimbursement methodologies, and provider arrangements
  • Participate in strategic initiatives, cross‑functional committees, and special projects
  • Mentor and support new and existing members of the contracting team
  • Travel up to 30% within assigned regions as business needs require

Required Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in provider network contracting with large specialty or multispecialty groups
  • 3+ years of contract negotiation experience within a managed care environment
  • Strong knowledge of provider reimbursement methodologies, including fee‑for‑service, capitation, risk arrangements, and value‑based models
  • Experience working within Medicaid and Medicare programs
  • Proven negotiation, relationship‑building, and stakeholder management skills
  • Ability to navigate complex regulatory environments
  • Strong analytical, organizational, and problem‑solving capabilities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office and contract management tools

Preferred Experience

  • Contracting exposure with hospitals, integrated delivery systems, and ancillary providers
  • Experience supporting government-sponsored healthcare programs, including Marketplace coverage
