About the Opportunity
The Data Analyst will join a dynamic newsroom team dedicated to producing the surveys, research, and rankings that define legal industry reporting. This role is essential for transforming raw data into actionable insights. You will manage the entire data lifecycle—from collection and cleaning to sophisticated statistical analysis—collaborating closely with editors, reporters, and designers to shape the narrative of the organization's legal coverage.
Responsibilities
- Survey & Research Management: Assist in conducting surveys and developing methodologies for high-profile annual reports and industry rankings.
- Data Analysis: Use statistical methods to analyze survey and public data; combine, clean, and verify complex datasets from multiple sources.
- Collaboration: Work with editors and reporters to draft research findings and present complex data-driven insights clearly.
- Visualization: Create compelling data visualizations to enhance the presentation of research for a sophisticated legal audience.
- Stakeholder Coordination: Manage internal datasets and coordinate with Editorial and IT departments to ensure data integrity and effective management.
Requirements
- Experience: 1+ years of experience in data management, cleaning, and analysis (relevant coursework may be considered).
- Technical Skills:
- Proficiency with quantitative analytical tools and Advanced Excel (including Pivot Tables).
- Familiarity with Python and/or R programming.
- Experience with data visualization techniques.
- Communication: Ability to communicate complex ideas to diverse audiences and collaborate across different newsroom functions.
- Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiarity with Databricks and survey research methodologies.
- Previous experience in legal industry research is a plus.
- Adaptability: Ability to work with data of varying quality and from diverse sources independently.

- Salary: $72,500 annually.
