This is an exciting opportunity to join a leading South Australian Government organisation within the Production and Treatment division, supporting critical water infrastructure across metropolitan and regional areas. You'll be part of a highly collaborative Operations Control team, contributing to essential services that directly impact communities and system resilience across the state.
Your new role
As a Water Systems Planning & Operational Data Analyst, you will play a key role in supporting water supply operations through accurate data analysis, modelling, and reporting. You will focus on strengthening system readiness while addressing a backlog of data quality and analytical tasks.
Key responsibilities include:
- Maintaining and validating demand forecasts, hydraulic models, pump configurations, and system logic
- Monitoring short-term weather trends and heatwave risks to support operational readiness
- Improving data quality through validation, backfilling, and bulk updates across systems
- Managing system and asset configuration changes across operational platforms
- Developing and maintaining dashboards, reports, and operational procedures
- Collaborating with planners, operators, and controllers to ensure alignment between data, models, and real-world operations
What you'll need to succeed
To be successful in this role, you will demonstrate:
- Proven experience within the water industry (exposure to organisations such as Oricon or Stantec is highly regarded)
- Strong data analytics skills with experience handling large, complex operational datasets
- Experience working with hydraulic modelling tools and methodologies
- Excellent stakeholder engagement and communication skills
- Strong attention to detail and ability to improve data quality within operational environments
