About the Role
The Consulate General of Israel to New England is seeking a results-driven Director of Economic Affairs and Innovation.
In this high-impact role, you will serve as a key strategic adviser to the Consulate’s diplomats on New England’s economic landscape. You will cultivate relationships with state government agencies, venture capital firms, chambers of commerce, multinational corporations, and the regional business development community, and you will execute projects and plans for cross-border economic collaborations throughout New England.
You will independently design, manage, and implement initiatives that deepen economic integration between Israel and New England’s premier ecosystems, turning diplomatic priorities into tangible economic and innovation partnerships, industrial R&D collaborations, and successful joint projects.
Responsibilities
- Drive Execution & Business Development: Own ecosystem engagement end-to-end. Cultivate, build, and maintain deep relationships with business, government, and industry leaders across New England.
- Forge Strategic Partnerships: Identify and develop high-impact partnerships between Israeli innovators and New England corporations, venture capital firms, and state agencies.
- Provide Strategic Advice: Track market trends, government incentives, and centers of excellence in both New England and Israel. Deliver informed, data-driven advice to Consulate leadership on emerging opportunities.
- Champion Israeli Industry: Serve as a prominent representative of Israeli innovation, technology, and industry within the New England business community.
- Lead Events & Missions: Partner with regional organizations and government offices to plan and execute high-profile economic events, business delegations, and trade shows.
- Manage Delegations & Visits: Support and coordinate high-level economic visits, working trips, and innovation group tours to foster real-world commercial opportunities.
- Handle Mission Operations: Represent the Consulate at public economic events and manage necessary day-to-day administrative and office responsibilities.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor’s degree, preferably in business administration or economics.
- 4+ years of relevant professional experience.
- Exceptional written and verbal communication skills in English, with a proven ability to maintain executive correspondence, write reports and proposals, and deliver presentations to government officials and corporate executives.
- Proven ability to manage multiple high-priority projects independently in a fast-paced environment.
- Established professional network within New England, or a demonstrated ability to develop strategic relationships from scratch.
- Excellent organizational, interpersonal, and event-planning skills.
Preferred
- Master’s degree in business administration (MBA), economics, or a related field.
- Working knowledge of the New England business environment.
- Experience coordinating small- and large-scale events and working trips.
- Fluency with social media and web platforms (X, LinkedIn, Facebook, and others).
- Proficiency in the Microsoft Office Suite.
Additional Details
- Occasional evening and weekend hours may be required.
- Occasional travel may be required (under 20%).
