Position Overview

We are seeking an experienced Director of Global Advocacy to lead the development and execution of global patient advocacy strategies that improve patient outcomes and strengthen relationships with patient advocacy organizations, healthcare providers, and key external stakeholders.

This highly visible role will partner with cross-functional teams including Medical Affairs, Clinical Development, Market Access, Commercial, Government Affairs, Regulatory, and Legal to ensure the patient perspective is incorporated throughout the product lifecycle—from early clinical development through commercialization.

The successful candidate will be a strategic leader with deep experience in hematology and transplant, patient engagement, reimbursement, healthcare policy, and advocacy program development.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop and execute global patient advocacy strategies aligned with corporate and product objectives.
  • Build and maintain strategic relationships with patient advocacy organizations, professional societies, and healthcare stakeholders globally.
  • Serve as the primary liaison between the company and patient communities.
  • Partner with Medical Affairs, Clinical Development, Commercial, Regulatory, Legal, Government Affairs, and Market Access teams to integrate patient insights into development and commercialization strategies.
  • Support clinical development programs by increasing patient awareness, engagement, and participation in clinical trials.
  • Lead initiatives focused on disease awareness, patient education, reimbursement support, and patient access.
  • Collaborate with Market Access teams to improve reimbursement pathways and patient support programs.
  • Monitor healthcare policy, reimbursement trends, and advocacy initiatives that impact patients and providers.
  • Represent the organization at patient advocacy meetings, advisory boards, scientific congresses, and industry conferences.
  • Develop educational programs and resources for patients, caregivers, advocacy organizations, and healthcare professionals.
  • Establish advocacy KPIs, metrics, SOPs, and reporting processes to measure program success.
  • Ensure all advocacy activities comply with legal, regulatory, and industry guidelines.
  • Collaborate with global teams, including regular interaction with European stakeholders.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree required.
  • RN or PharmD strongly preferred.
  • Advanced degree (MS, MPH, MBA, JD, or related healthcare/life sciences field) is a plus.
  • 8–12+ years of experience in Global Patient Advocacy, Patient Engagement, Market Access, Medical Affairs, Government Affairs, or External Affairs within biotechnology or pharmaceutical companies.
  • Demonstrated success building partnerships with patient advocacy organizations and professional medical societies.
  • Strong understanding of patient access, reimbursement, and healthcare policy.
  • Experience collaborating with Medical Affairs, Clinical Development, Commercial, Regulatory, and Market Access teams.
  • Excellent executive communication, stakeholder management, and presentation skills.
  • Ability to influence cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in Hematology and/or Hematopoietic Stem Cell Transplant (HSCT)/Bone Marrow Transplant is highly preferred.
  • Experience supporting rare disease, oncology, cell therapy, gene therapy, immunology, or specialty pharmaceuticals.
  • Experience with patient reimbursement programs and access initiatives.
  • Experience supporting product launches and commercialization.
  • Experience working with global advocacy organizations.
  • Familiarity with U.S. and European healthcare systems is a plus.
