About the Role
We are seeking a Director of Strategic Communications to lead a fast-paced
communications and media intelligence environment focused on breaking news,
strategic messaging, rapid-response communications, and real-time narrative
analysis.
This role sits at the center of a high-tempo communications ecosystem responsible
for monitoring evolving media narratives, tracking current events, shaping
messaging strategy, and guiding rapid communications efforts across digital
platforms and media channels.
The ideal candidate thrives in newsroom-style environments, closely follows
geopolitical and political developments, understands how narratives evolve online,
and can quickly synthesize complex information into clear communication strategy
and actionable messaging direction.
This position plays a central role in monitoring public discourse, identifying
emerging narrative trends, developing messaging frameworks, and helping
leadership respond rapidly to current events and breaking media developments.
Working in coordination with strategic partners and senior leadership, the Director
of Strategic Communications will oversee the review, refinement, distribution, and
amplification of messaging across content, social, media, and communications
teams while ensuring consistency, responsiveness, and strategic clarity.
This role includes leadership responsibilities across communications, media monitoring, content production, audience engagement, and rapid-response communications workflows. The Director will help manage and scale a cross-functional team supporting real-time communications execution and strategic messaging initiatives.
The ideal candidate is highly analytical, editorially sharp, strategically minded, and
capable of exercising strong judgment in fast-moving communications
environments with constant real-time developments.
The individual in this role will be required to register under the Foreign Agents
Registration Act (FARA) and operate in compliance with all applicable reporting
and disclosure requirements.
Responsibilities
Narrative Intelligence & Media Monitoring
• Monitor political, geopolitical, cultural, and media developments in real time
• Track breaking news, public sentiment, online discourse, and emerging
narrative trends across media and digital platforms
• Conduct real-time analysis of evolving media narratives and communication
risks
• Identify misinformation trends, messaging opportunities, and strategic
response needs
• Synthesize large volumes of information into concise strategic insights and
actionable communication guidance
• Help leadership understand narrative momentum, audience sentiment, and
evolving communications challenges
Messaging Development & Strategic Communications
• Develop messaging frameworks, narrative positioning, and rapid-response
communication strategies aligned with organizational priorities
• Translate complex geopolitical developments into clear, persuasive, and
repeatable messaging
• Produce communication briefs, talking points, rapid-response messaging,
and narrative guidance documents
• Ensure consistency across outward-facing communications and digital
content streams
• Exercise strong editorial judgment across fast-moving communications and
newsroom-style environmentsContent Direction & Editorial Oversight
• Provide messaging direction to writers, editors, designers, social teams, and
communications personnel
• Review written, video, graphic, and social content for strategic alignment
and message consistency
• Refine framing, positioning, headlines, hooks, and communication structure
to maximize narrative effectiveness
• Help build scalable content systems and rapid communications workflows
• Maintain high editorial and communication standards across all public-
facing outputs
Team Leadership & Communications Coordination
• Lead and coordinate cross-functional communications and content teams
• Support hiring, onboarding, and development of communications personnel
• Assist leadership in building scalable newsroom-style workflows and
communications structures
• Contribute to rapid-response communications execution during breaking
developments and high-visibility moments
• Maintain responsiveness, accountability, and organization in fast-moving
environments
Strategic Coordination & Executive Communication
• Coordinate with leadership and strategic stakeholders on messaging
priorities and communications objectives
• Prepare narrative assessments, media intelligence summaries, and strategic
communications updates for senior leadership
• Proactively identify communication gaps, strategic risks, and messaging
opportunities
• Maintain awareness of legal and compliance obligations associated with
foreign principal representation and FARA requirements
• Ensure communications processes support proper documentation and
reporting requirementsQualifications
• 7+ years of experience in strategic communications, political
communications, journalism, media operations, public affairs, or rapid-
response communications
• Strong writing, editorial, analytical, and strategic communications skills
• Experience operating in high-tempo news, political, media, or
communications environments
• Strong understanding of political media, breaking news cycles, geopolitical
narratives, and evolving public discourse
• Experience monitoring public sentiment, media trends, or digital
conversations in real time
• Ability to synthesize information quickly and develop actionable
communication strategy under tight deadlines
• Experience leading teams or managing communications/content personnel
• Strong organizational leadership and decision-making skills
• Demonstrated judgment and proactive problem-solving ability
• Comfortable communicating with senior executives, policymakers, and
strategic stakeholders
• Familiarity with social listening, media intelligence, analytics, or narrative
monitoring platforms preferred
• Experience in government, advocacy, journalism, public affairs, political, or
international affairs environments preferred
• Willingness and ability to register under FARA and comply with applicable
disclosure requirements
