Role Description Emergency Medical Officers will provide immediate evaluation, stabilization, and management of patients presenting to the emergency department, ensuring timely, evidence-based care. Responsibilities include conducting clinical assessments, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, initiating appropriate medical or surgical interventions, and coordinating referrals or admissions. The role involves working closely with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals to deliver integrated emergency care, maintain accurate medical records, and adhere to institutional protocols and clinical guidelines. Emergency Medical Officers may participate in training activities, support junior staff in clinical decision-making, and contribute to quality improvement and patient safety initiatives. This is a full-time, on-site role based at Punjab Institute of Medical Sciences in Jalandhar.
Qualifications

  • Candidates should possess strong Medicine and Patient Care skills, including clinical assessment, diagnosis, and management of acute conditions.
  • Candidates should possess relevant Surgery-related skills for basic emergency procedures and coordination of surgical care when required.
  • Candidates should possess Training abilities to support teaching of students, interns, and junior staff in emergency medicine practices.
  • Candidates should possess skills in Working with Physicians and multidisciplinary teams to ensure coordinated, high-quality emergency care.
  • Candidates should hold an MBBS degree from a recognized institution, with valid registration from the appropriate medical council.
  • Preferred qualifications include experience in emergency medicine or critical care, familiarity with hospital protocols, and readiness to work in shift-based schedules.
