The Water Reclamation Division is responsible for the administration and treatment functions of the wastewater system and the production of reclaimed water at three water reclamation facilities that collectively treat approximately 50 million gallons per day.
The Water Reclamation Division is seeking an organized, self-motivated, team player to fill the position of Environmental Compliance Technician/Inspector. This is a semi-skilled technical position is responsible for inspection and sampling of grease traps, operation of manual and automated sampling equipment, and review of customer and contract/franchise hauler operations for compliance with County codes and ordinances. The ideal candidate will be proficient in communicating with customers, exhibit a positive attitude, work independently to meet deadlines and complete assignments.
Job Description
General Functions:
This key position performs inspections and technical work to ensure compliance with Orange County codes and ordinances for Orange County sewer, solid waste, and recycling customers and contract/franchise haulers, including sampling and inspection of subject users.
Work is performed with considerable independence under the supervision of the Environmental Coordinator. Performance is reviewed through observations, reports and results achieved.

Minimum Qualifications
- Inspects customers and contract/franchise hauler vehicles for compliance with recycling and solid waste ordinances.
- Relocates and sets up automated sampling equipment at selected sites.
- Inspecting commercial and industrial facilities and grease traps and records inspection findings on computer database daily.
- Maintains accurate, legible records of samples and inspections, including chain-of-custody logs and other daily paperwork.
- Removes and replaces sanitary sewer manhole covers to conduct inspection and sampling.
- Prepares records of findings for supervisor or applicable boards concerning enforcement actions.
Preferences
High School diploma or equivalent
Knowledge of basic chemistry, biology, and math is preferred
Must possess and maintain a Florida Driver¿s License.

Pay Grade: 012 – From $19.94 to $25.66
