Finance Business Partner Jobs in Melbourne, Victoria, Australia at Robert Half

Title: Finance Business Partner

Company: Robert Half

Location: Melbourne, Victoria, Australia

The Company

We are partnered with a significant Australian-owned group operating property development and related services.

The organisation offers the scale and complexity of a major corporate environment while retaining an entrepreneurial and fast-moving culture.

The finance function is evolving, with a stronger focus on commercial partnering, forward-looking analysis and using data to improve business performance.

The Role

Reporting to the Head of FP&A, the Finance Business Partner will work closely with senior operational leaders to support strategic planning, commercial decision-making and financial performance.

This is not a traditional reporting-focused position. You will become a trusted advisor to business leaders, providing insight, challenging assumptions and helping translate financial information into practical commercial actions.

Your stakeholder group will include senior executives, General Managers, Executive General Managers and Managing Partners across a range of business units.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Partnering with business leaders to develop strategic and operational plans
  • Leading budgeting, forecasting and target-setting processes
  • Developing scenario models and forward-looking commercial analysis
  • Identifying key performance drivers, risks and opportunities
  • Preparing and evaluating investment proposals and business cases
  • Providing insight into revenue, costs, profitability and resource allocation
  • Challenging assumptions and driving accountability across the business
  • Improving performance reporting, financial tools and decision-making processes
  • Supporting the adoption of digital, analytical and automation capabilities

About You

You will be a commercially minded finance professional who is confident working with senior stakeholders and comfortable operating in a dynamic environment.

Your ability to build credibility, influence decisions and develop strong relationships will be more important than experience within a particular industry.

You will ideally bring:

  • CA, CPA or equivalent professional qualification
  • Strong foundations across accounting, financial planning and commercial analysis
  • Previous finance business partnering or commercial finance experience
  • Advanced financial modelling and analytical capability
  • Experience presenting complex information to non-financial stakeholders
  • Confidence challenging senior leaders constructively
  • Strong communication, resilience and stakeholder management skills
  • The ability to operate autonomously and navigate changing priorities
  • A proactive approach to improving systems, reporting and business processes

Experience within property, construction or another operationally complex sector would be beneficial but is not essential.

The organisation has previously had success with candidates from Big Four and professional services backgrounds, provided they have developed strong commercial judgement and stakeholder capability.

What Success Looks Like

Success will be measured by your ability to become fully integrated into the business and viewed as a genuine member of the leadership team rather than simply a representative of finance.

You will build trusted relationships, provide commercially valuable insight and help leaders make better, more informed decisions.

What's on Offer

  • Salary range $150-165,000 including super
  • Eligibility for annual bonus
  • Additional employee benefits
  • Exposure to senior leaders across a large and diverse group
  • Opportunity to help shape a developing finance business partnering function
  • Four days in the office and one day working from home
