Job Summary


Employees may telework up to 50%, depending on the position and the needs of the division.

This position leads and supervises the Office Services department, which provides daily operational support of the State Fire Marshal division, including payroll, office space, mail, inventory and purchasing services for multiple state teams (Business Services, Fire Service Support, Fire Protection, State Teams, Investigations, Health Care, Residential Care and Lodging, Schools and Prevention). This position ensures compliance with policies and objectives outlined by agency and state leadership. Responsibilities also include addressing/resolving complex issues that arise in day-to-day operations.

Additionally, this position will be responsible for triaging requests and inquires, occasional project management responsibility, and other duties as the needs arise.

Qualifications


Minimum Qualifications

Two (2) years* of supervisory or lead worker experience. To qualify, lead work must include ongoing responsibility to prioritize, schedule, assign, direct, guide and report on the work of other employees.

Experience in accounting/procurement (accounts receivable, invoicing, purchasing, etc.)

Computer skills to include Microsoft Office Suite such as Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, or similar.

Strong human relations and communications skills sufficient to develop and maintain effective working relationships with diverse clientele.

Ability to balance multiple priorities and problem solve on a daily basis.

Ability to work cooperatively with individuals from diverse backgrounds and underserved communities.

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited school may substitute for one year of supervisory or lead worker experience.


Preferred Qualifications

State of Minnesota supervisory experience.

Proficiency in Minnesota SWIFT Accounting and Procurement system.

Data reporting and management experience.

ALP Certified Purchasing experience ($25,000).


Physical Requirements

Requires occasionally moving and transporting such articles as file folders and small tools. May need to maintain a stationary position for long periods of time while carrying out job duties.
