The Position
Paid‑On‑Call Firefighter with the Maple Grove Fire Department. Respond to fire, hazmat, rescue, medical, and other emergency incidents while protecting residents and neighborhoods. Participate in fire prevention education and community outreach.
Position Options & Salary
Apprentice Firefighter – $12.76 per hour. No training or experience required; undergo required training within two years of hire, paid by the Department.
Regular Firefighter – $20.18 per hour after completing an 18‑month probationary period.
Responsibilities
- Respond to emergency incidents within assigned district.
- Participate in fire prevention and safety education activities.
- Attend scheduled drills, training, and meet participation and competency requirements.
- Maintain station and apparatus.
- Serve on standby or duty crew as assigned.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent.
- At least 18 years of age.
- Valid Minnesota Driver’s License free of restrictions, suspensions, or reckless driving.
- Resident of Maple Grove or within a 5‑minute drive to a fire station at time of application.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in firefighting, rescue, EMS, or other public safety roles.
- Advanced certification in firefighting, rescue, hazardous materials, or emergency medical care.
- State of Minnesota Firefighter License.
