Role Description: The Government Contract Specialist is a full-time, hybrid role based in the DMV area, with some flexibility for work from home. This role is responsible for managing and supporting the full contract lifecycle for government clients, including drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts, task orders, and modifications in accordance with applicable regulations and internal policies. The specialist will monitor contract performance, maintain accurate contract documentation, support compliance with federal acquisition regulations, and coordinate with internal teams and government stakeholders to award contracts and/or resolve contract issues.

CS II: Experience with federal contracting (DoD R&D contracting is highly desirable). Six (6) years of specialized contracting experience. Examples of Specialized Contracting Experience: developing, preparing terms and conditions in proposals related to the award of contracts. Negotiating and awarding contracts, contract modifications, and/or subcontracts. Participation in negotiating, awarding, or administering contracts, or the analysis of procurement policies and procedures. Administering the terms and conditions of contracts, including such aspects as preparing contract modifications, evaluation of performance under the contract, and contract termination. Analyzing proposed prices or costs, including such aspects as evaluating technical and audit reports, forecasting price trends, evaluating economic factors, estimating production. Efficiencies and evaluating methods of allocating cost through various types of overhead and general and administrative expense. Formulating policies and procedures for the acquisition of goods or services, participating in procurement management reviews and contract clearance, or developing positions on claims and protests related to contracts.

CS III: Experience with federal contracting (DoD R&D contracting highly desirable). Twelve (12) years of specialized contracting experience. Qualifications

  • Experience in government relations and working with public sector and local government entities, including familiarity with federal procurement and contracting environments.
  • Strong communication skills, including the ability to prepare clear contractual documentation, reports, and briefings, and to collaborate effectively with internal teams and government stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated analytical skills for interpreting regulations, analyzing contract terms, assessing financial implications, and supporting data-driven decision-making.
  • Understanding of public sector operations and government contract processes, including basic knowledge of the FAR, DFARS, and related policies. Experience with non-FAR-based contracting such as Other Transactions Agreements (OTAs) is a huge plus.
  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, public administration, law, or a related field; advanced degree or professional certification in government contracting (e.g., NCMA certification) is a plus.
  • Experience with contract management systems, financial tracking tools, and Microsoft Office applications (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Proven ability to manage multiple contracts or projects simultaneously, meet deadlines, and maintain attention to detail in a fast-moving, compliance-driven environment.
