Role Purpose:
The Government Relations Officer is responsible for all matters related to the Government Authorities (MOL, MOI, Ministry of Industry & Mineral Resources, Customs, etc.), including Iqama and passport-related matters, as well as obtaining chemical permits/clearances (Fasah) and managing industrial transactions through the Sinaie platform (adding materials and processing customs-duty exemptions).
Key Accountabilities:
- Obtains and processes permits and clearances (Fasah) for chemical materials and substances required for the company’s operations, in coordination with the relevant government authorities to ensure compliant and timely release.
- Submits and manages applications through the Industrial (Sinaie) platform of the Ministry of Industry and Mineral Resources, including adding new materials / raw inputs and processing customs-duty exemptions for industrial materials and equipment.
- Coordinates communication with government contacts for all divisions of the company to facilitate activities including the attainment of government approval, the processing of documentation, the acquisition of Baladya licenses and /or permits.
- Keeps in touch with the government official and updates regarding the procedures, duties, and any protocol involved in company operations.
- Updates records regarding taxes on imports and exports, licensing and registration policies and protocols, and quotas.
- Liaises with government officials to ensure government records of the company are always up to date and accurate in order to prevent any delays and complications in future transactions and operations
- Ensure that all fees, fines, and any other outstanding payments are made to the relevant government official in order to maintain harmonious relations.
- Investigates any complaints or warnings emanating from government officers in relation to the activities of any of the company divisions and/ or representative in order to resolve the issue and elicit government approval.
- Reports to the management on the issues relating to the company's relationship with the government and its potential impact on the operations.
- Observes and reports on social, economic, and political trends that might affect relations with government bodies or operations.
- Formulates policies and procedures relating to interaction, communication, and transactions with government officials for all divisions of the company to abide by.
- Updates on the government laws and policies and to communicate to the management.
- Responsible for processing immigration applications, visas, and visa extensions, ERE visa
- Advises and consults with foreign employees on immigration and visa procedures.
- Continually reviews immigration procedures and the legal status of foreign employees.
- Assists in monitoring foreign government policies and actions that may impact operations.
- Liaises with government offices regarding employee visa requirements and arranging travel plans for both Corporate and Branch personnel.
- Supervises staff passport, visa approvals, iqama/ exit/ RER visas, close liaison with Govt.
- authorities, e.g., labor office & embassies for smooth processing of new recruits’ visas
Job Specifications:
- 1–3 years of experience in Government Relations, Public Relations (PRO), or a similar role
- Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, Public Administration, Law, or a related field.
