The Green Fund Specialist is responsible for implementing the Fund's investing strategy as well as managing the Fund's portfolio of investing activities.
The Green Fund Specialists will raise government funding and manage the green fund to encourage saving water and electricity and lowering carbon emissions.
The Green Fund Specialist is in charge of developing an investment strategy and portfolio of innovation-based enablers, as well as investing in major business units and DSM programs.
The Green Fund Specialist is accountable for the Fund's success. As a result, the Green Fund Specialist should have foresight and manage the Fund's direction. This means that the Green Fund Specialist must be highly skilled in business, finance, and strategy.
The role of the Green Fund Specialist will entail dealing with government and financial entities to raise funds.
The Green Fund Specialist will also be expected to generate a steady flow of potential investment opportunities.
The Green Fund Specialist must also conduct company research as well as research on the financial industry and the economy. Keeping up with industry trends will assist the fund manager in making key decisions that are consistent with the fund's goals.
The duties of the Green Fund Specialist also include meeting with the rest of the Energy Efficiency Sector team, identifying portfolio gaps, and working with existing and potential clients. The Green Fund Specialist will work at a strategic or leadership level, as well as with the portfolio manager to ensure that all programs are funded and resourced.
Key Responsibilities:
- Understand and catalog the Green Fund's needs, as well as assess its market viability.
- Understand the stakeholder's risk appetite/tolerance.
- Form an investment committee with a charter and mandates, and invite members from finance, legal, and operations.
- Create a Green Fund strategy and portfolio structure that ensures the appropriate risk and return profile.
- Draft an investor agreement in collaboration with the legal team.
- Create the pitch deck, as well as the approvals, branding, and production.
- Determine funding sources and raise funds.
- Create an operation manual for the Green Fund's day-to-day operations, as well as the associated risk management, administration, and accounting services.
- Register the Green Fund with the appropriate jurisdiction and the appropriate regulatory regime, such as SICAR or SICAV, or any other mechanisms that may exist in the government sector, if any.
- The Green Fund shareholders registry and accounting platform, as well as relationships with asset management service providers such as State Street, must be developed. This will also include the custody relationship and any mandates that have been agreed upon with a bank.
- Hold meetings of the investment committee and pitch deals for approval and investment.
- Define investment performance indicators and shareholder agreements for each investment.
- Represent the Green funds' interests on the board or the program steering committee, providing performance direction in collaboration with the Demand Side Management (DSM) portfolio manager, if applicable.
- Portfolio performance, basic asset and liability management, and liquidity management, as well as weightings and balancing the Green Fund portfolio to stay in line with its strategy and mandate. Alternatively, the asset manager service provider might be appropriate.
- Execute any necessary corporate actions, such as dividend payments and capital repatriation.
- Distribute the Green fund performance fact sheet to investors and management on a regular basis.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree and MBA with focus in finance would be preferred. MBA with focus on finance and strategy will also be considered.
