Role

As the organisation scales its operations to deliver on this mandate, it is expanding its leadership team and is seeking to engage exceptional talent across the following three roles:

Job Title: Head of Corporate Communications

Engagement Type: Full-Time

Location: Abuja, Nigeria

Job Summary

The Head of Corporate Communications will develop and execute the organisation's communications strategy to enhance corporate reputation, strengthen stakeholder relationships, and support business objectives. The role oversees internal and external communications, media relations, brand management, executive communications, crisis communications, and corporate social responsibility (CSR) messaging, and serves as principal advisor to executive management on all communication matters.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute a comprehensive corporate communications strategy aligned with the organisation's strategic mandate.
  • Oversee media relations, ensuring accurate, consistent, and reputation-enhancing coverage across national and international outlets.
  • Manage brand positioning and corporate identity across all internal and external touchpoints.
  • Lead executive communications, including speeches, statements, and briefing materials for senior leadership.
  • Design and implement crisis communication protocols to protect institutional reputation during periods of heightened scrutiny.
  • Drive corporate social responsibility (CSR) messaging that reflects the organisation's development impact.
  • Serve as principal advisor to executive management on communication risks, opportunities, and stakeholder sentiment.
  • Ensure consistent, impactful, and strategic engagement with government bodies, industry partners, and the public.

Educational Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mass Communication, Journalism, Public Relations, Marketing, Communications, English, or a related field.
  • Master's Degree (MBA, Communications, Public Relations, or related discipline) is an advantage.
  • Professional certifications in Public Relations, Corporate Communications, Marketing, or Reputation Management will be an added advantage.

Knowledge, Skills & Experience

  • Minimum of 12 15 years' progressive experience in Corporate Communications, Public Relations, Media Relations, Brand Management, or related fields (preferably within the Public Sector or infrastructure).
  • At least 5 years in a senior leadership role managing corporate communications functions.
  • Demonstrated experience in stakeholder engagement, crisis communications, and reputation management.
  • Experience working in a corporate, financial services, telecommunications, energy, FMCG, or similar industry is desirable.
