Head of Enterprise Strategy Jobs in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia at Diabetes Australia

Title: Head of Enterprise Strategy

Company: Diabetes Australia

Location: Sydney, New South Wales, Australia

Location: Sydney, Brisbane, Canberra or Melbourne

Permanent, Full Time

Diabetes Australia is seeking a senior leader to define and embed a disciplined, enterprise-wide approach to strategy; one that connects ambition with execution, and ensures organisational effort is aligned, measurable, and impactful.

This role is suited to an experienced strategy leader who brings both structural rigour and sound judgement; someone who understands that effective strategy is not only about setting direction, but about establishing the systems, governance, and clarity required for that direction to be realised.

The Opportunity

As Head of Enterprise Strategy, you will be responsible for the design, integrity and continuous improvement of the organisation’s enterprise strategy system.

Working in close partnership with the Group CEO, Chief of Innovation & Impact and the Executive Leadership Team, you will establish the frameworks and processes that ensure strategic priorities are clearly defined, consistently interpreted, and effectively translated into action.

This is a critical leadership role with influence across the organisation, shaping how decisions are made, how investments are prioritised, and how performance is measured.

Key Responsibilities

You will lead the development and integration of core strategy disciplines across the organisation, including:

  • Designing and leading the enterprise strategy process, from external insight and strategic ideation through to prioritisation
  • Establishing a single, integrated planning framework that aligns organisational priorities and eliminates fragmented planning approaches
  • Defining and embedding a clear strategic performance framework, including enterprise-level measures of success
  • Developing governance structures, decision-making frameworks, and prioritisation disciplines to maintain strategic focus
  • Partnering with Finance to ensure alignment between strategic priorities, investment decisions, and resource allocation

This role operates through influence and collaboration, requiring the ability to engage senior stakeholders and foster alignment across a complex, multi-functional environment.

Measures of Success

Success in this role will be reflected in the organisation’s ability to operate with clarity and cohesion:

  • Strategic priorities are clearly articulated, consistently applied, and understood across the organisation
  • Planning and resource allocation are directly aligned to agreed strategic objectives
  • Decision-making is guided by defined frameworks, with trade-offs managed transparently
  • Performance is measured through relevant, trusted indicators that inform executive and Board discussions
  • Leaders demonstrate shared alignment in both direction and execution

Candidate Profile

The successful candidate will bring substantial experience in strategy development and implementation within complex organisations.

  • Demonstrated experience designing and embedding enterprise strategy and planning frameworks
  • Strong capability in translating strategic intent into structured, actionable priorities
  • Experience establishing governance, decision rights, and prioritisation models across functions
  • Highly developed stakeholder engagement and influencing skills at executive level
  • Commercial and financial acumen, with the ability to contribute to investment decision-making

Experience within health, public policy, or purpose-led organisations is advantageous, though not essential.
