Role Description

Lead the organization's government relations and public policy strategy by building strong relationships with government agencies, regulatory authorities, industry associations, and key stakeholders while supporting business growth, regulatory engagement, and corporate reputation. This executive role is responsible for monitoring policy developments, developing government engagement strategies, representing the organization in discussions with public institutions, and providing strategic advice on legislative and regulatory matters that may impact business operations. The successful candidate will collaborate with executive leadership, legal, regulatory affairs, compliance, corporate communications, public affairs, sustainability, business development, operations, and cross-functional stakeholders to align government engagement initiatives with organizational objectives. The role also involves analyzing public policy trends, coordinating advocacy initiatives, managing stakeholder engagement programs, preparing policy briefs and executive reports, supporting regulatory consultations, overseeing industry partnerships, coordinating crisis and issues management, monitoring geopolitical and regulatory developments, and driving continuous improvements in government relations, policy influence, and corporate reputation.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Public Policy, Political Science, International Relations, Law, Business Administration, Economics, Communications, Public Administration, or a related field; Master's degree, MBA, Juris Doctor (JD), or equivalent postgraduate qualification is highly desirable.
  • Proven executive leadership experience in government relations, public affairs, public policy, regulatory affairs, corporate affairs, external affairs, legal, communications, or stakeholder engagement roles.
  • Strong understanding of government decision-making processes, legislative and regulatory frameworks, public policy development, stakeholder engagement, corporate governance, regulatory compliance, political and economic environments, and public administration.
  • Extensive experience developing government engagement strategies, managing relationships with government agencies, participating in policy consultations, monitoring legislative developments, preparing policy submissions, and representing organizations in industry forums and public consultations.
  • Experience using stakeholder management platforms, CRM systems, Power BI, Tableau, Microsoft Office Suite, policy monitoring tools, and enterprise collaboration platforms to manage engagement activities, reporting, and strategic planning.
  • Familiarity with sustainability policy, ESG regulations, trade policy, digital transformation, artificial intelligence (AI), cybersecurity regulation, privacy legislation, cloud technologies, and international regulatory developments is highly desirable.
  • Strong analytical, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills with the ability to assess policy impacts, anticipate regulatory changes, develop evidence-based recommendations, and align government engagement strategies with business priorities.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, diplomacy, public speaking, executive presentation, and stakeholder management skills with the ability to build trusted relationships with ministers, regulators, legislators, industry associations, business leaders, media representatives, and cross-functional teams.
  • Experience supporting international expansion, regulatory reform, public-private partnerships, sustainability initiatives, infrastructure projects, crisis management, digital policy, or enterprise transformation programs is highly desirable.
  • Knowledge of corporate governance, lobbying regulations, ethics and compliance requirements, international trade agreements, geopolitical risk, and public sector procurement frameworks is an advantage.
  • Professional certifications or executive education in Public Policy, Government Relations, Corporate Affairs, Stakeholder Engagement, ESG, Project Management, or equivalent leadership and governance qualifications are considered an advantage.
  • A strategic, influential, and highly collaborative executive with a passion for building trusted government partnerships, shaping public policy outcomes, strengthening corporate reputation, and leveraging effective stakeholder engagement to support sustainable business growth, regulatory alignment, and long-term organizational success.
