HR Communications Contractor

Our client is seeking an experienced HR Communications Contractor to support internal Human Resources communications and employee engagement initiatives. This hybrid contract opportunity is ideal for a communications professional with experience partnering with HR teams to develop clear, strategic, and employee-focused communications.
The ideal candidate is a strong writer, organized project coordinator, and collaborative business partner who can manage multiple priorities while delivering high-quality communications that enhance the employee experience.
Key Responsibilities
- Partner with Human Resources leaders and cross-functional stakeholders to understand communication needs, priorities, and business objectives.
- Develop and execute communication plans for HR initiatives, programs, and organizational priorities.
- Create engaging content for multiple internal audiences, including employees, managers, and senior leadership.
- Draft and edit employee communications, leadership messages, FAQs, intranet content, presentations, toolkits, announcements, and process documentation.
- Coordinate communication timelines, approvals, and deliverables across multiple stakeholders.
- Ensure messaging is clear, consistent, audience-focused, and aligned with organizational priorities.
- Maintain communication calendars, templates, trackers, and editorial schedules.
- Support change management and communications related to HR programs, compliance initiatives, employee engagement, performance management, onboarding, and other people-focused initiatives.
- Organize and maintain internal resources to improve accessibility and knowledge sharing.
- Track communication effectiveness and recommend continuous process improvements.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Communications, Human Resources, Organizational Development, Business Administration, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
- 5+ years of experience in HR communications, internal communications, organizational communications, or a related field.
- Experience supporting Human Resources or People Operations functions.
- Exceptional writing, editing, proofreading, and verbal communication skills.
- Strong experience developing communication plans for diverse audiences and multiple communication channels.
- Experience creating content for emails, intranet sites, presentations, leadership messaging, FAQs, toolkits, and employee resources.
- Strong project management and stakeholder coordination skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
- Experience working with collaboration platforms, intranet sites, and Microsoft 365 applications, including Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Teams, and SharePoint.
- Ability to synthesize complex information into clear, concise, employee-friendly messaging.
- Strong organizational skills with excellent attention to detail and version control.
- Experience handling confidential information with professionalism and discretion.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience supporting HR communications within healthcare, nonprofit, government, higher education, professional services, or other complex organizations.
- Background in change management or organizational communications.
- Experience supporting employee engagement, performance management, compliance, onboarding, learning and development, or workforce planning initiatives.
- Experience developing communication governance processes, editorial calendars, communication templates, and knowledge management resources.
- Experience creating executive presentations, leadership communications, and meeting materials.
- Familiarity with project management tools used to track deliverables, approvals, timelines, and dependencies.
