Job Title: Inbound Logistics Specialist
Duration: 6-12 Months (Contract)
Locations: San Francisco, CA – 94111
Pay: $30-35/ hr on W2
Job Description:
- Coordinate inbound shipments (ocean, air, truck, rail) from global suppliers into North America distribution centers
- Partner with freight forwarders, carriers, and customs brokers to ensure smooth shipment execution and issue resolution
- Monitor shipment status, track delays, and proactively mitigate risks impacting delivery timelines
- Review and validate shipping and customs documentation (BOL, commercial invoices, packing lists, customs entries)
- Perform freight audit and invoice validation, ensuring accuracy of billing from logistics providers
- Maintain high data integrity in systems such as GT Nexus (GTN), CASS, SAP, or other TMS/ERP tools
- Analyze inbound logistics KPIs (on-time delivery, lead times, invoice aging, data quality) and support reporting
- Collaborate with internal teams (planning, sourcing, finance, DC operations) to align shipment schedules
- Support inbound managers in maintaining lead time matrices and shipment visibility tools
- Drive continuous improvement initiatives across inbound logistics processes and vendor performance
Required Qualifications
- 3–7+ years of experience in inbound logistics, transportation, or supply chain operations
- Strong understanding of international shipping, Incoterms, and customs compliance
- Experience working with freight forwarders, 3PLs, and customs brokers
- Hands-on experience with freight audit, invoice reconciliation, or logistics billing
- Proficiency in ERP/TMS systems (SAP, GT Nexus, CASS preferred) and Excel
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and cross-functional collaboration abilities
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in retail, apparel, or consumer goods industry
- Knowledge of global inbound logistics networks and distribution center operations
- Exposure to customs regulations, tariff classifications, and government compliance (FDA, USDA, etc.)
- Experience managing logistics KPIs and performance reporting
