Role Description The Independent Consultant will provide technical and advisory support to UNDP Guinea on a defined project or thematic area, working on-site in Guinea under a time-bound contract. Day-to-day tasks may include conducting research and analysis, supporting project design, contributing to implementation plans, and preparing reports, briefs, and presentations for internal and external stakeholders. The consultant will collaborate with UNDP staff, national counterparts, and partners to collect data, facilitate meetings or workshops, and ensure that project activities align with UNDP standards and national priorities. The role may involve field visits within Guinea, stakeholder consultations, and regular progress updates to the supervising UNDP unit. The consultant is expected to work independently, meet agreed deliverables within set timelines, and uphold UN ethical and professional standards.
Qualifications

  • Strong analytical, research, and report-writing abilities, with the capacity to synthesize complex information into clear, actionable recommendations.
  • Proven experience in project or program management, including planning, implementation support, monitoring, and documentation of results.
  • Excellent communication and facilitation skills, with the ability to engage constructively with government institutions, civil society, and international partners.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in multicultural, multidisciplinary teams and to build collaborative professional relationships.
  • University degree (Master’s preferred) in a relevant field such as development studies, public policy, social sciences, economics, environmental studies, or a related discipline.
  • Prior experience working with UN agencies, international organizations, or development partners in Guinea or similar contexts is an asset.
  • Fluency in French, with good working knowledge of English; knowledge of local languages in Guinea is an advantage.
  • Strong organizational skills, ability to manage multiple tasks, respect deadlines, and deliver high‑quality outputs with minimal supervision.
