What We Are Looking For
We are seeking an experienced information and complaints professional to join our Governance team on a 12-month temporary basis.
This temporary opportunity has been created to support the delivery of information access services under Right to Information (RTI) and Information Privacy (IP) legislation and provides the opportunity to step into a role with a strong focus on managing these requests, supported by broader complaints handling responsibilities.
Working within a small, dedicated team, you will contribute to the consistent, fair and timely handling of information requests and complaints, while helping to build capability across the organisation.
What Your Day Will Look Like
- Reviewing and prioritising information requests and complaints in line with delegations and organisational priorities
- Managing information access applications under RTI and IP legislation
- Conducting assessments of information requests and complaints and identifying appropriate outcomes
- Preparing clear recommendations and supporting their implementation
- Ensuring compliance with legislative requirements and Council reporting obligations
- Delivering guidance and training to internal stakeholders
- Engaging across the organisation to provide practical governance support

What You’ll Need For Success
- Extensive experience in handling administrative complaints and managing right to information and information privacy matters
- Strong ability to interpret and apply legislation
- Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- Strong research and report-writing capabilities
- A proactive and adaptable approach to learning across diverse local government functions
- Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills
What’s Nice To Have
- A tertiary qualification (AQF level 7 or above) in a relevant field
- Previous experience working in a local or public sector government environment
