PALAS Consulting is seeking experienced ICT Project Managers for a Federal Government department in Canberra. These are hands-on delivery roles at the EL1 equivalent level, responsible for planning, executing and tracking approved ICT projects within an established portfolio governance framework.
The roles suit practitioners who can take a project from plan to closure, manage business and technical stakeholders, and operate confidently within formal governance structures including project boards and architecture review forums.
Key Responsibilities
- Document project plans defining stakeholders, deliverables, milestones, delivery approach and dependencies.
- Establish and lead integrated project teams, drawing on agreements with directors and technical leads for skills and services.
- Deliver monthly status reporting covering financials, milestones and achievements, with insight into key risks and issues.
- Manage project scope, cost, schedule, risks, issues and benefits, engaging formal change processes where required.
- Produce mandatory project artefacts including business requirements agreements, schedules, end stage and closure reports, and capitalisation reporting.
- Present briefings to senior stakeholders and secure decisions through established governance forums.
Required Experience
- A minimum of five years delivering IT projects of varying size and complexity, applying a range of delivery approaches.
- Experience working in complex ICT environments.
- Demonstrated stakeholder management, communication and collaboration skills.
- The ability to write clearly, concisely and persuasively.
- A PRINCE2, PMBOK or equivalent industry certification.
- A current, active security clearance.
- Australian citizenship is mandatory.
Desirable
- Experience in complex global ICT environments.
- Experience delivering secure government systems.
- Working knowledge of legislative and compliance controls applying to government services, including the Privacy Act 1988, the Archives Act 1983, the PGPA Act 2014, the Commonwealth Procurement Rules, the PSPF, the ISM and the Essential Eight.
- Complementary certifications such as Agile, BABOK, ISTQB, risk management or benefits management.
- Experience in related streams such as business analysis, organisational change management, testing, or applications and infrastructure support.
Location and Working Arrangements
These roles are offered on a onsite basis in Canberra city. Interstate and remote working arrangements will not be considered.
