Position: INSPECTOR GENERAL (Title 32) with Security Clearance
Duties
JOB SUMMARY:
The purpose of this position is to serve as the Inspector General (IG) and is required to demonstrate a substantial breadth of experience, exceptional maturity, and demonstrated sound judgment. Responsibility to independently review and oversee Department of Defense (DoD), Air Force (AF), and Wing programs to determine compliance with laws, guidelines, and objectives. Provides technical guidance, advisory support, policy, and direction for programs such as the Inspection System;
IG Investigations;
Complaints Resolution Program;
Whistle blower Reprisal;
Fraud, Waste, and Abuse(FWA) Program;
Strategic Plans and Programs; and the Commander’s Inspection Program (CCIP). NATIONAL GUARD MEMBERSHIP IS REQUIRED. This is an excepted position that requires membership in a compatible military assignment in the Connecticut Air National Guard. The major duties include, but are not limited to:
* Plans, directs, and manages the programs of the wing Inspector General office.
* Serves as an independent Inspector General in management of the Air Force Complaints Resolution, IG Investigations, Fraud, Waste, and Abuse (FWA), and Whistle blower Reprisal program.
* Manages, administers, plans, and executes the Inspection System and Commanders Inspection Program.
* Exercises supervisory personnel management responsibilities.
* Represents the Inspector General office and programs with a variety of wing and functional area organizations. Requirements Conditions of employment
* National Guard Membership is required.
* Males born after 31 December 1959 must be registered for Selective Service.
* Federal employment suitability as determined by a background investigation.
* Must meet Compatible Military Assignment within one year from placement.
* Wear of the military uniform is mandatory.
* Direct Deposit is mandatory.
* Must be able to obtain and maintain a secret security clearance.
* Must possess a valid state drivers license.
* Incumbent is required to serve a 2-year trial/probationary period. Qualifications GENERAL
EXPERIENCE:
All series personnel must be competent at the next higher level before being eligible for that level. An applicant must have a validated understanding of the basic principles and concepts of the occupational series and grade. SPECIALIZED
EXPERIENCE:
Your resume and any other supporting documentation you wish to provide must clearly substantiate you currently possess 36 months of specialized experience in the following:
* Experience demonstrating knowledge of all applicable Inspector General Program principles and practices related to federal civilian, military, and National Guard, operational, administrative and technical programs.
* Experience in planning for and executing inspector general programs and using software data systems.
* Experience in the procedures to inspect and report on the state of discipline program efficiency and effectiveness, and readiness of military and civilian forces.
* Experience involving work as the primary inspector general advisor with responsibilities to plan, direct, and manage inspector general programs.
* Experience in conducting investigations and inspections to ensure compliance with agency policies, practices, and regulations.
* Experience in providing policy, guidance, oversight, and directions for the inspection programs; complaints resolution;
Fraud, Waste, and Abuse; strategic plans and programs; and the Commander’s Inspection Program.
* Experience in the inspector general program concepts and policy regulations. Has demonstrated skills in the development of programs, procedures, and methods to implement, evaluate, and maintain the inspector general program.
* Experience in developing risk-based sampling strategies and annual inspection plan focusing on the Wing Commander’s priorities.
* Experience in multiple and specific inspector general computerized programs.
* Experience and skill in writing standardized operating procedures for the inspector general programs.
* Experience in interpreting and developing inspection policies, procedures and applicable Memorandums of Understanding or Memorandums of Agreement with host or tenant organizations, if applicable, as well as state, city, and/or county agencies in order to adequately evaluate the National Guard’s overall mission readiness.
* Experience in providing supervisory duties, directing administrative, technical, and operational directions and established broad objectives for long-range strategic plans or new programs.
* Experience in developing, interpreting, and implementing the Army, Air Force, or both services’ inspection policy.
* Experience planning and organizing assigned programs, estimating unit resources, capabilities, and objectives.
* Experience in coordinating with staff and line management personnel, and skilled in conducting all phases of projects.
