Role Overview:
Our client, a leading renewable energy company, is seeking a motivated and analytical Junior Economic Development Consultant to join their growing team.
This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate professional looking to build a career in the renewable energy sector while contributing to sustainable development and creating meaningful impact within local communities.
The successful candidate will support the planning, implementation, monitoring, and reporting of Economic Development initiatives across renewable energy projects. Working closely with project teams, clients, government stakeholders, community representatives, and implementing partners, you will play a key role in ensuring compliance with Renewable Energy Independent Power Producer Procurement Programme (REIPPPP) commitments and supporting the successful delivery of socio-economic development programmes.
Key Responsibilities:
- Support the implementation and monitoring of Economic Development programmes across renewable energy projects.
- Coordinate stakeholder engagement activities, community meetings, workshops, and consultations.
- Assist with the planning and delivery of Socio-Economic Development (SED), Enterprise Development (ED), and Local Economic Development initiatives.
- Collect, analyse, and report on project data and programme performance.
- Prepare project reports, presentations, and compliance documentation.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with communities, municipalities, government departments, beneficiaries, and other stakeholders.
- Travel to project sites to support project implementation, monitoring, stakeholder engagement, and reporting activities.
Minimum Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Economics, Development Studies, Social Sciences, Business Management, Public Management, Commerce, or a related field.
- 1–3 years' experience in Economic Development, Community Development, ESG, CSR, Project Management, or the renewable energy sector.
- Previous exposure to REIPPPP projects will be advantageous.
- Strong analytical, research, reporting, and project coordination skills.
- Excellent communication, stakeholder engagement, and relationship management abilities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
- Valid South African driver's licence and willingness to travel nationally, including overnight travel where required.
