Role Description The Lecturer role is a full-time, hybrid position based in Erbil, with the possibility of completing some responsibilities from home. The Lecturer will deliver undergraduate and/or postgraduate courses, prepare and update syllabi, develop teaching materials, and conduct assessments aligned with departmental standards. Daily tasks include planning and delivering lectures and seminars, providing academic advising and mentorship, and maintaining regular office hours for student support. The role also involves engaging in scholarly or applied research, contributing to curriculum development, and participating in departmental and university committees and meetings. The Lecturer is expected to collaborate with colleagues, support community engagement initiatives, and uphold the university’s academic and ethical standards.
Qualifications
- Advanced academic qualifications in a relevant discipline (typically a Master’s degree or PhD); strong record of academic performance and subject-matter expertise.
- Demonstrated teaching skills at the university level, including the ability to design courses, prepare instructional materials, and apply effective assessment methods.
- Proficiency in student-centered and inclusive teaching practices, with the ability to support learners from diverse backgrounds and varying levels of preparation.
- Evidence of research activity or clear potential to develop a research profile, including the ability to conduct studies, publish findings, or engage in scholarly projects.
- Strong communication and presentation skills, including the ability to explain complex concepts clearly in English and, where relevant, in regional languages.
- Competence with digital tools and learning technologies, such as learning management systems, online collaboration platforms, and basic office software.
