POSITION OVERVIEW

The role supports the Livelihood Officer in strengthening community-based livelihood initiatives that address drivers of deforestation while promoting sustainable economic opportunities for Indigenous Peoples (IPs) and residents.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Support the Project Lead in developing and implementing conservation, cultural preservation, sustainable tourism, farming, and community development projects.
  • Oversee landscape conservation strategies, ensuring environmental sustainability, aligns with community development.
  • Manage relationships with funding partners, report on project performance, and ensure compliance with financial and operational guidelines.
  • Coordinate with key stakeholders—including Indigenous communities, provincial and municipal government units, cultural organizations, and farming cooperatives—to ensure collaborative planning and project execution.
  • Supervise internal teams managing forest protection, sustainable livelihoods, community engagement, cultural preservation, ecotourism, and agroforestry initiatives.
  • Ensure timely provision of project support by coordinating with finance, administration, procurement, HR, and data management teams.
  • Oversee performance tracking of annual targets and key performance indicators (KPIs) related to conservation, tourism, cultural heritage, farming, and community development activities.
  • Assist in formulating annual work plans and budgets that integrate conservation, eco-tourism, cultural heritage, farming, and community development.
  • Manage project-related accounts and funding, ensuring transparency, accountability, and effective allocation of resources.
  • Lead participatory planning sessions with partner Indigenous groups, local farming communities, and tourism stakeholders.
  • Foster strong relationships with provincial and municipal government units, ensuring alignment with local policies and development priorities.
  • Work closely with technical experts in biodiversity, cultural heritage management, sustainable tourism, and agriculture for effective project implementation.
  • Monitor and evaluate project impact, identifying areas for improvement and implementing corrective actions.
  • Engage and motivate project teams, ensuring high performance and long-term retention of staff and partners.
  • Recommend improvements to project implementation to senior management, highlighting key risks and opportunities.

REQUIREMENTS

  • 1 to 3 years of experience in livelihood promotion, rural development, or community development.
  • Experience working with self-help groups (SHGs), micro-enterprises, farmers, or marginalized communities

Field Work:

  • Experience in field implementation, community mobilization, and capacity building.
  • Familiarity with rural/tribal areas is often a strong requirement.
