Position Overview
We are seeking experienced and detail-oriented professionals to join our team as a Loss Mitigation Single Point of Contact (SPOC). In this role, you will serve as the primary liaison for borrowers experiencing financial hardship, guiding them through available loss mitigation options and ensuring a smooth, compliant process from start to finish.
This position plays a critical role in supporting homeowners by identifying retention solutions and facilitating communication between all stakeholders. You will work with a variety of loan types, including FNMA, FHLMC, USDA, FHA, and VA, while ensuring adherence to all regulatory and investor guidelines.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary point of contact for borrowers throughout the loss mitigation process
- Act as a subject matter expert on assigned loan products, ensuring compliance with all investor, insurer, and regulatory requirements
- Educate borrowers on available loss mitigation options and guide them through application processes
- Communicate approval and denial decisions clearly and professionally, including detailed explanations when required
- Manage document collection by identifying missing items and following up to complete applications
- Monitor and track trial payment plans and other workout solutions
- Maintain accurate and thorough documentation of all borrower interactions within servicing systems
- Independently manage a pipeline of loans, ensuring timely and accurate processing
- Assist with borrower mediations, escalations, and complex case handling
- Respond to escalated calls and provide clear explanations of decisions, calculations, and eligibility criteria
- Collaborate with internal teams to ensure proper loan handling and avoid dual tracking issues
- Support audit activities, including preparation and response to findings
- Stay updated on industry regulations and recommend updates to internal processes when necessary
- Participate in quality assurance programs to support continuous improvement
- Monitor loan timelines and escalate issues to management when delays or risks are identified
- Perform additional duties as assigned
Required Experience
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in mortgage loss mitigation or a related role
Education
- Bachelor’s degree in a related field preferred, or equivalent professional experience
Additional Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of conventional and government mortgage loan processes, documentation, and compliance requirements
- Familiarity with federal regulations including CFPB, FCRA, TCPA, and FDCPA preferred
- Understanding of federal debt collection and bankruptcy laws
- Ability to handle sensitive borrower situations with professionalism, empathy, and patience
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage a high-volume workload efficiently
- Experience working in a fast-paced, metrics-driven environment
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and general data entry systems
- Familiarity with document management and retention systems
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy
- Advanced math and analytical skills preferred
- 10-key proficiency by touch is a plus
