Job Summary
The Maintenance Planner is responsible for planning, coordinating, and organizing all preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance activities to ensure maximum equipment reliability and operational efficiency. Serving as the key link between the Production and Maintenance departments, the Maintenance Planner develops detailed work packages, plans maintenance schedules, ensures the availability of required resources, and supports continuous improvement initiatives while maintaining compliance with safety and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
1. Planning & Work Preparation
- Develop and maintain preventive, predictive, and corrective maintenance plans.
- Prepare detailed work packages, including job scope, labor estimates, tools, spare parts, permits, and safety requirements.
- Review maintenance requests and prioritize work based on equipment criticality and operational requirements.
- Coordinate with Production and Maintenance teams to optimize maintenance planning and minimize downtime.
- Ensure the availability of materials, spare parts, and required resources before scheduled work begins.
2. Scheduling & Execution
- Develop weekly and monthly maintenance schedules in coordination with Operations.
- Monitor work order execution and update maintenance plans as required.
- Track maintenance backlog and optimize resource utilization.
- Support maintenance shutdowns, turnarounds, and major equipment overhauls.
- Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation within the CMMS.
3. Reliability & Continuous Improvement
- Analyze equipment performance, maintenance history, and failure data to identify improvement opportunities.
- Recommend reliability improvements and preventive maintenance optimization strategies.
- Monitor maintenance KPIs, including equipment availability, downtime, schedule compliance, and maintenance costs.
- Participate in root cause failure analysis (RCFA) and continuous improvement initiatives.
4. Safety Compliance & Hazard Identification
- Ensure maintenance activities comply with company HSE policies and regulatory requirements.
- Verify that work packages include appropriate risk assessments, permits, and safety precautions.
- Participate in hazard identification, risk assessments, and safety audits.
- Promote a strong safety culture and ensure safe maintenance execution practices.
Qualifications & Requirements
Education
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
Experience
- Minimum of 5 years of industrial maintenance experience, including at least 3 years in maintenance planning and scheduling.
- Experience in aluminium smelting, extrusion, or heavy manufacturing industries is highly preferred.
- Previous experience with leading industrial organizations such as Hadeed, Tasnee, SABIC, Sadara, S-Chem, Sipchem, or similar companies is preferred.
Technical Skills
- Proficiency in Computerized Maintenance Management Systems (CMMS) such as SAP PM, IBM Maximo, Oracle EAM, or equivalent.
- Strong knowledge of preventive, predictive, and reliability-centered maintenance practices.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, technical manuals, and equipment documentation.
