Duties

The primary purpose of the position is to serve as the focal point for the effective use of purchase requests and service contracts within NMAH, and to provide administrative management support services in the areas of purchasing and record keeping.

In This Position, You Will

  • Process NMAH purchase requests for a variety of goods and services, including office supplies, lodging for invitational travelers, performers, honoraria, conferences, lecturers, conservation and exhibition supplies and exhibition fabrication.
  • Work with the requestor, assure that purchase card transactions are appropriate and documented; competition is conducted and documented for small purchases; and requests for proposal include all necessary specifications.
  • Reconciles purchase card transactions with purchase logs and reallocates all purchases to appropriate funding codes (source, budget reference, designated code, department ID, account, class & program).
  • Adhere to all Office of Contracting’s Charge Card Program and the Office of Finance and Accounting policies and procedures on purchase card holder responsibilities and purchase order buyer roles within the SI Financial System (ERP) system.

Qualifications

Experience: You qualify for this position if you have one year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the GS-07 level in the Federal Service. For this position, specialized experience is defined as 1) Processing purchase orders, contracts and requisitions, and purchase card transactions; 2) Applying procurement regulations, policies, and practices when purchasing goods and services; and 3) Providing proactive customer service.

OR Education

OR Master's or equivalent graduate degree;

OR 2 full years of progressively higher level graduate education leading to such a degree;

OR LL.B. or J.D., if related

OR

You may qualify by a combination of experience and education.
