THE ROLE

The Manager Risk leads the implementation and continuous improvement of the department's enterprise risk management framework and provides strategic risk advice to support informed decision making across the organisation.

Reporting to the Director Audit and Risk, the role provides strategic risk advice and support to senior executives and governance committees to strengthen risk maturity, identify emerging risks and opportunities, and support informed decision making.

The role also provides expert advice to the department and the Audit and Risk Management Committee (ARMC) on the application of the Victorian Government Risk Management Framework and identification of risk trends and issues. It plays an integral role in embedding a culture of effective risk management that supports the achievement of departmental objectives.

Accountabilities Include

  • Lead the continuous implementation and improvement of the department's enterprise risk management framework, policies and supporting tools, ensuring alignment with strategic priorities, emerging risks and better practice.
  • Strategically plan and manage the implementation of risk management principles, strategies, and processes across divisions of the department, ensuring risk management activities are practical, proportionate and aligned with business priorities and operational delivery.
  • Provide strategic risk insights and advice to senior executives, governance committees (ARMC and the Executive Board to support informed decision making. Coordinate and supply regular updates and periodic reporting to the Executive Board.
