Role Description The Manager Technical Services is a full-time, on-site role based in Bundaberg, QLD, responsible for leading and coordinating the Council’s technical services and support functions. This role oversees the delivery of high-quality technical support to internal stakeholders and external customers, ensuring timely troubleshooting and resolution of issues across Council systems and infrastructure. The position manages technical teams, sets service standards, and implements processes to improve system reliability, performance, and customer experience. Day-to-day tasks include supervising technical staff, prioritizing service requests, developing and delivering training on systems and tools, and collaborating with other Council departments to plan and implement technical projects. The Manager Technical Services also contributes to strategic planning, risk management, and continuous improvement initiatives aligned with Council objectives.
Qualifications
- Strong technical services and technical support skills, with experience overseeing complex infrastructure and systems.
- Proficiency in troubleshooting and issue resolution, including root cause analysis and implementation of long-term solutions.
- Demonstrated customer service skills, with the ability to manage stakeholder expectations and maintain clear, professional communication.
- Experience designing and delivering training related to technical systems, tools, and procedures.
- Proven leadership and people management capabilities, including team supervision, mentoring, and performance management.
- Relevant tertiary qualification in information technology, engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent experience.
- Experience in local government or large, multi-site organizations is beneficial.
- Strong organizational, planning, and project management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities.
- Knowledge of risk management, compliance, and best practice standards in technical services environments.
- Ability to work collaboratively across departments and contribute to strategic and operational improvements.
