Role Description
This is a full-time, on-site role for a skilled and dedicated Medical Laboratory Scientist based in Papua New Guinea. The scientist will be responsible for conducting laboratory tests, analyzing results, maintaining and ensuring calibration of laboratory equipment, and ensuring adherence to quality control and safety protocols. The role also involves providing accurate and timely diagnostic services to support high-quality healthcare delivery, particularly in family planning and sexual and reproductive health services.
Qualifications
- Diagnostic laboratory skills, including proficiency in conducting and interpreting tests and analyses
- Experience in operating and maintaining laboratory equipment, as well as ensuring adherence to calibration and quality assurance standards
- Strong knowledge in infection control, laboratory safety protocols, and compliance with relevant health regulations
- Capability in data analysis and report preparation for clinical use
- Problem-solving abilities and attention to detail for accurate diagnostic results
- Bachelor’s degree in Medical Laboratory Science or a related field
- Relevant professional certification and registration as a Medical Laboratory Scientist
- Effective communication skills and ability to collaborate with healthcare teams, providers, and partners
- Experience or interest in sexual and reproductive health services is an added advantage
