Public Enterprise Water Supply and Sewerage Skopje (JP Vodovod i Kanalizacija Skopje) is inviting qualified and motivated professionals to join the Project Implementation Unit (PIU) for the Skopje Wastewater Treatment Plant (WWTP) Project, one of the most significant environmental and infrastructure investments undertaken in North Macedonia.
The Skopje Wastewater Treatment Plant Project is a flagship environmental initiative that will transform wastewater management in the capital city and improve the quality of the Vardar River and the surrounding environment.
The project includes the design, construction, commissioning, and operation of a modern central wastewater treatment plant serving the City of Skopje. Financed by the IFIs, the project represents a major step towards achieving European environmental standards, strengthening climate resilience, and supporting the country's long-term sustainable development goals.
As the largest environmental infrastructure project in North Macedonia, the Skopje WWTP will deliver lasting benefits for future generations by improving public health, protecting natural resources, and ensuring more sustainable urban development.
The Project Implementation Unit (PIU) operates within PE Water Supply and Sewerage Skopje and plays a central role in the successful delivery of the project.
The PIU is responsible for the overall project management and coordination of all key activities, including:
- Procurement and contract management
- Construction monitoring and coordination
- Environmental and social compliance
- Stakeholder engagement and reporting
- Preparation for commissioning and future operation of the facility
