The Building Product Division – Chemical Construction Industry plays a crucial role in nation-building by offering innovative building solutions and employing cutting-edge technology that has revolutionized the construction business. The introduction of new-age solutions has significantly streamlined construction processes, allowing customers to complete construction activities more efficiently, ultimately contributing to the progress of India's infrastructure development.

UltraTech Cement has established UltraTech Building Products Division (BPD) to provide complete sustainable solutions to customers and to be 360 Degree building material destination. UltraTech Building Products division manufactures and markets technologically re-engineered products for construction and infrastructure industry.

BPD offers an array of scientifically engineered products to cater to new-age constructions. Aerated Autoclaved Concrete (AAC) blocks are economical, light-weight blocks ideal for high-rise buildings, while Dry Mix Products include waterproofing, grouting and plastering solutions designed for faster completion of projects.

The sub-sectors of Building Products (like tiles adhesives and flooring, waterproofing, sealants, repair products etc.) are highly fragmented with a large number of small, local players in addition to a few big players. While this may lead to severe local competition and price sensitivity, the fragmentation also provides significant long-term opportunity for deep-pocketed players with the patience to build brands and distribution networks for the long run.

Production

• Prepare, implement, and monitor the Annual Operating Plan for productivity, performance index, extra cost, idle time and monitor the same periodically.
• Set corrective course of action to achieve and exceed plans.
• Set and monitor the performance of the Unit against standards and targets in areas such as manufacturing and administration efficiency, cost control, dispatch, revenue, legal compliance, and human resource management.
• Oversee production processes, optimize workflow, and minimize interruptions.
• Ensure that the plant operates efficiently to meet production targets.

Statutory Safety Compliance

• Conduct hazard analysis and identify Health & Safety risks to develop control measures to minimize/eliminate them.
• Ensure monthly internal safety audits are completed and safety checklist are updated and tracked.
• Record all safety related observations/incidents on MySetu.
• Communicate severe incidents inside and outside of the plant like the black corner and red corner notices to other plants to create awareness and caution.
• Ensure adherence of statutory compliance of plant by liaisoning with relevant government officials (operational compliance like electrical department).
• Share best practices and collaborate with competitors on safety initiatives (like training of all industrial vehicle drivers).
• Conduct surprise visits to plants to ensure compliance with safety processes and to escalate non-compliance.
• Ensure a safe working environment for all employees by implementing and enforcing safety protocols, training programs, and compliance with relevant regulations.
• Ensure availability of PPE kits and that no one is allowed to enter the plant premises without these kits.
• Ensure and achieve zero accidents by implementing safe and standard operating procedure for all machines.

Quality & Maintenance

• Establishing and maintaining strict quality control measures and communicating it to the team such that they comply with these quality standards.
• Conduct periodic audits to ensure the proper functioning of machinery and equipment to prevent production delays and breakdowns.
• Lead and review improvement actions in production process based on feedback, audit reports

Environmental Compliance

• Ensure that the plant complies with environmental regulations and implements sustainable practices to minimize the impact on the environment.

Operation & Maintenance of Dry Mix of a Plant

• Operation and maintenance of all equipment in Dry Mix Plant.
• Organising Inventory of spares for Dry Mix Plant.
• Developing Indigenous supplier for imported machinery spares.
• Maintaining all Records of Plant and Equipment.

Inspection

• Preliminary inspection of items at vendor’s site.
• Progress report of vendors for different equipment.
• Final inspection and testing before despatch.
• Final report preparation.

Handling AAC projects

• Coordination with Technology supplier for specification of local items.
• Technical Clarification and discussions with Technology supplier.
• Identification of vendor for local repairs in the Plant machinery

Implementation of the project

• Technical evaluation of vendor for local procurement.
• Floating enquiries for local procurement of items.
• Comparative study of vendors for local procurement.
• Technical queries and clarifications

Training & Development

• Ensure the implementation of identified safety trainings internally or externally.
• Plan safety trainings, prepare the calendar and design the training course material.
• Identify safety training needs for the workforce in the cluster

Plant, Prod & Quality Executive

Responsible for overseeing the entire manufacturing process, ensuring product quality, and managing the operation of the plant.

Executive Maintainance

To continuously maintain the plant & machinery operations to enhance the overall plant productivity. To encourage the implementation of best practices unanimously across all plants in Mumbai Region in coordination with City Operation Heads.

Executive Instrument

Responsible for erection and commissioning of AAC plant (mixer tower) worked with lathi foreign delegates in erection and software as well as instrumentation activities as per project requirement doing preventive maintenance to prevent and maintain zero breakdown in instrumentation.
